Jacks Hold for Morris

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

An early position raiser made it 1,600 to go and two players called. Richard Morris then three-bet to 12,000. The action folded back to the initial raiser, who moved all-in. Morris's opponent had him covered; if Morris called, he would be the one all-in. After a brief time in the tank, Morris decided to put himself at risk and call.

Morris - {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Opponent - {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Morris was in good shape but had to hold to survive. The flop came {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, giving Morris's opponent a gutshot as well as set outs. The turn changed nothing with the {3-Clubs}; and the board completed with the {q-Hearts} to secure Morris the double up.

Kyle Robinson Flops It

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Kyle Robinson was heads up with the flop reading {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}.

His opponent bet 3,000 into the 6,000 pot and Robinson raised to 12,000. His opponent called.

The turn was the {7-Spades} and Robinson bet 21,000 when his opponent checked again. His opponent called.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and it checked to Robinson again. He moved all-in and his opponent called. Robinson showed {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a flopped flush. His opponent had only {a-}{j-} and headed to the rail.

Second Break

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Level 8 has come to an end which brings us to another 15-minute break. When the players return, Level 9 will begin with binds of 600/1,200 with a 1,200 big blind ante.

More Flips

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The break has once again jump-started the $50 flips. Ten players put up the $50 each for a seat in the $420 Southern Poker Open. In the latest round, the best preflop hand went to Seat 1 with {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}. Ross Bybee held the second-best preflop hand with {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}. However, it was seat 5 who took down the seat with {8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} when the board ran out {8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

Wyatt Doubles Through Lehr

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Keith Lehr was right in the middle of the action again, and this time he doubled up Jeff Wyatt.

Wyatt had {a-}{q-} against the {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} of Lehr.

The board ran out {a-}{k-}{j-}{9-}{3-} and Wyatt doubled up. Lehr still has a healthy stack and, after a couple double ups, Wyatt is looking to finish strong and bag the opening flight of the Southern Poker Open.

Breakfast in Bossier City

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Kat Bowen limped into the pot from under-the-gun for 1,200 and Ross Bybee overlimped from middle position. The player on the button raised to 3,000, and both Bowen and Bybee called.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}, and Bowen immediately moved all-in for around 9,000. Bybee instantly called. The player on the button, who had around 19,000 chips behind, waited for an exact count. The answer came back as 8,900, and ultimately the button decided to fold.

Bowen - {7-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Bybee - {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

"I was too short to do anything but push," Bowen admits. "I have to hope to catch a seven or a five."

The board runs out {j-Hearts}{3-Clubs} to eliminate Bowen. Bybee stood up and gave Bowen a hug on her way out of the tournament area, and the two immediately made plans to meet for breakfast in the morning.

On an adjacent table, Mina Greco has chipped up to 111,000.

James Arnold Gets Aces Two Times

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

According to the table, James Arnold just got aces. There was a misdeal and, based on the way they were talking about it, Arnold was probably a little frustrated, sitting with about 32,000.

The next hand, a player opened from early position and Arnold shoved. His opponent snap-called with {q-}{q-}.

Arnold stood up and tabled {a-}{a-} and the table couldn't help but react.

The board ran out and kept Arnold in the lead to earn the double up.
