Weitzel Stays Strong

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Bonnie Weitzel has slipped back from her peak, but is still holding strong. As she entered this hand, she had 131,000 chips.

Weitzel limped in from early position for 1,600 and the player in the cutoff raised to 5,000. The hijack called and the blinds folded. Weitzel called and the three players saw a flop of {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}.

Weitzel was first to act and she immediately fired 9,000 into the pot. The initial raiser in the cutoff folded quickly, but the player in the hijack gave it some thought before giving up his cards.

Tinsley C-Bets and Wins

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

A player in early position raised to 3,500 and Michael Vardeman called on the button.

Jeremy Tinsley three-bet from the big blind to 15,000 and Vardeman was the lone caller.

The flop came {k-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}.

Tinsley pursed his lips and used both hands to check his cards. He counted out then shuffled his chips before casually tossing out 15,000.

"Let's see, how many spades do I have?" Vardeman said re-checking his cards and then mucking.

"Good hand."

Lehr Knocks Out Two Players

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

The preflop action had raising chips in front of Ross Bybee and another player had moved all in. The action was on Keith Lehr, who reshoved, and Ross Bybee called.

Lehr - {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Bybee - {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent - {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Lehr and Bybee have similar stacks, while the third player was short. The flop came {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, giving Bybee the best draw, but the board ran out in Lehr's favor with {2-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

"I figured [the third player] right, but I wasn't sure if [Lehr] was trying to play ace-king," Ross said as he stood up from the table.

Bybee had a stack of 81,200 and Lehr began counting down his stack, which came to 86,000.

Espinoza Sends One to the Rail

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Paul Espinoza was in a three-way pot with Jacob Seale and another player.

Espinoza checked the {7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop and Seale bet 10,000 before the third player raised all-in for 42,500. Espinoza was next to act.

He double checked the amount, then counted out calling chips and thought for a moment. Seale eventually called the clock and Espinoza called shortly after. Seale folded.

Espinoza showed {3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for a flush and a straight draw.

His opponent showed {a-Clubs}{q-Spades} for ace-high.

The turn was the {k-Diamonds}, giving Espinoza the flush and the river was the {10-Hearts}. Espinoza won the hand and sent his opponent home with a little less than an hour left in Day 1a.

Mintz More Than Doubles

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Five players limped and then Ben Mintz raised in late position. One player called and the next player shoved for around 40,000. The action folded back to Mintz and he reshoved for around the same amount. The final opponent thought for a minute and then folded.

Mintz - {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Opponent - {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}

Mintz was in great shape until the flop came {k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, giving his opponent a set. With the percentages suddenly reversed on Mintz, the turn brought the {q-Hearts}. It's set-over-set the fun way, with the {9-Spades} completing the board on the river.

When the stacks were counted down, it was Mintze with 41,200 against his opponent's 39,000.

Hoover Shoves on Lehr

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The board read {k-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Logan Hoover bet 10,000 and Lehr called.

The river paired the board again, with the {k-Hearts}.

Hoover stacked up his remaining 36,300 and moved all-in.

Lehr thought for a moment after getting a count. He counted out calling chips and then lifted the stack of the felt. At the same time he mucked his cards.

A Timely Shove

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The action folded to Michael Patterson in middle position and he raised to 7,000. One player called from the small blind and everyone else folded.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades} and the small blind checked. Patterson continued for 12,000 and his opponent began to think. After checking his hole cards, the small blind raised to 25,000. Patterson took little time to move all-in for around 100,000 more.

The small blind showed his hand to his neighbor and then mucked, sending the pot to Patterson. Patterson turned his hand up to reveal {q-}{q-}.

"I had ace-king," the small blind said.
