Cruel Ending for Antonius: Busts Against Queens

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Patrik Antonius
Patrik Antonius

Patrik Antonius' fourth and final attempt to win the biggest tournament at his own festival has come up short after a cruel twist of fate. Down to about fifteen big blinds, Antonius moved in with {q-Spades}{8-Spades} from middle position and Tommie Janssen called one seat over with pocket queens, the same hand that cost Antonius basically two of his bullets earlier on.

Antonius was drawing dead by the turn to leave the field with eight.

No Comeback for Mizrachi

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Robert Mizrachi
Robert Mizrachi

Left on fumes after the earlier showdown, Robert Mizrachi shoved for 4,800 after Pauli Ayras has opened from under the gun. Patrik Antonius considered it in the big blind but ultimately folded. Ayras quickly committed in the extra few chips.

Robert Mizrachi: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Pauli Ayras: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop brought extra counterfeit outs for Ayras to win and it was the counterfeit that did Mizrachi in after the {j-Clubs} turn and {k-Spades} river. With Mizrachi's elimination, the field will combine for the final table.

Autio's First Tournament Ends Cashless

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Arto Autio
Arto Autio

Arto Autio, the Finnish businessman who played his first live poker tournament today, wasn't able to turn it into a Cinderella story and hit the rail in 11th place. In back-to-back hands, Autio lost his final chips.

Tommie Janssen took the first sizable chunk in a hand where Autio check-called 7,500 on a {2-Spades}{k-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop, before both players checked the {4-Diamonds} turn. Autio bet 15,000 on the {q-Diamonds} river and got a call from Janssen. The Finn showed {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} but was second best to the Dutchman's {k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.

In the next hand, which would be his last, he defended from the big blind against a Koray Aldemir raise. On the {a-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop, Autio check-called 1,700 from Aldemir.

The turn was the {6-Hearts} and Autio checked. Aldemir bet 3,700, Autio check-raised all in for 12,600 and, slightly displeased, Aldemir called it off with {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

Autio instantly flung his hand face-down in the muck, but once retrieved and turned over by the dealer he was still drawing live with {q-Spades}{j-Clubs}. The river wasn't one of the paint card he needed and he made his way out.

Cates Leaves Mizrachi with Crumbs

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
PAPC High Roller
PAPC High Roller

Robert Mizrachi opened to 2,600 from early position and Dan Cates defended his big blind.

Cates check-raised from 2,700 to 8,500 after the {k-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades} came on the flop and Mizrachi called. Cates fired out for 10,000 after the {3-Spades} came on the turn and Mizrachi snap-called.

The action slowed down a little bit after the {6-Diamonds} completed the board on the river before Cates led out for 30,000. Mizrachi, with about 37,000 behind used two time bank tokens before he made the call.

Cates took down the hand and left Mizrachi with crumbs after he turned over {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Mizrachi looked like he was about to turn over his hand before he tossed it in the muck.

Mizrachi Doubles with Patrik's Favorite Hand

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Robert Mizrachi
Robert Mizrachi

Teun Mulder opened for 2,800 from the button before Robert Mizrachi jammed for about 24,000 from the small blind. The action folded back to Mulder who quickly called.

Mizrachi turned to Patrik Antonius. "Patrik, I have your favorite hand," said Mizrachi with a smile before turning over {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

Antonius, who busted two bullets with queens smiled back.

Mulder turned over {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and needed some help. No help came as the {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} ran out on the board to give Mizrachi a double-up.

Byrraju Felted on a Flip

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Rahul Byrraju
Rahul Byrraju

Rahul Byrraju found himself low on chips and seemingly found a decent spot to get them in. Pauli Ayras opened to 3,000 from the hijack before Byrraju jammed for a little under 10,000 from the small blind.

Aryas snap-called and turned over {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. Byrraju turned over {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and the race was on.

Byrraju's small edge in the hand turned to a massive disadvantage after Aryas paired up on the {6-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop. Neither the {q-Hearts} on the turn nor the {8-Hearts} on the river were unable to help Byrraju get back into the hand and he at least for now left the tournament area.

There are just a few minutes left in Level 7. After the completion of this level, players will be on a 15-minute break. Late-registration will be over after the break.

Mizrachi Spikes An Ace, Snipes Adams

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Timothy Adams
Timothy Adams

Pauli Ayras raised to 2,000 from under the gun, Robert Mizrachi three-bet shoved 25,500 from the small blind, Timothy Adams called all in for 19,400 from the big blind.

Ayras shrugged and called it off after a few seconds to put both opponents at risk.

Timothy Adams: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Pauli Ayras: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Robert Mizrachi: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

The {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop brought help for Mizrachi, who was two cards away from a near triple-up. The {k-Hearts} turn and {8-Hearts} river remained safe to ship the pot over to him. Adams, who busted in the process, will have twelve minutes if he decides to reenter.

Cooler City for Antonius

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Koray Aldemir and Patrik Antonius
Koray Aldemir and Patrik Antonius

To say it hasn't been the best of days for Patrik Antonius would be quite the understatement. On bullet number two, he was eliminated with queens against eights. He had queens again early on bullet number three and things didn't go much better.

It was back and forth preflop between Antonius with {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and Koray Aldemir with {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} before all of Antonius' chips were in the middle.

"Not again," said Antonius.

He wished everyone good luck after he was unable to get a save after the {9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{6-Hearts} ran out on the board.

Adams Takes Out Byrraju

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante
Rahul Byrraju
Rahul Byrraju

Rahul Byrraju open jammed from early position for about 10,000 in chips. The action folded to Timothy Adams in the big blind who snap-called after looking at his cards.

Rahul Byrraju: {a-Hearts}{2-Clubs}
Timothy Adams: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Adams was ahead when all the money got in the middle and Byrraju was in for a world of hurt after Adams nailed two pair on the {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{k-Spades} flop.

The {j-Clubs} came on the turn opening up a possibility if a ten came on the river. However, the {j-Hearts} came instead and Byrraju was felted just before the first break.
