Welcome to the Caribbean Poker Party $5,300 MILLIONS Finale

The Level at Melia Caribe Tropical
The Level at Melia Caribe Tropical

Although most of the 2017 Caribbean Poker Party Festival presented by partypoker LIVE is in the books, the $5,300 Main Event is well underway in the stunning seaside town of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and last event of the series, the MILLIONS Finale, kicks off at noon local time. Players will begin with 1,000,000 starting chips and $1,000,000 is guaranteed.

There is one more scheduled starting flight following this one and it is slated to begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Play on Day 1 will consist of eight levels; the noon flight will have 60-minute levels and the evening flights will have 30-minute levels. Late entry and re-entry are available through the end of level 12. All surviving players will combine for Day 2 on Friday and the eventual winner will be determined on Day 3.

It is noteworthy that the structure for each event in this tournament series utilizes button antes. Instead of each player at the table posting an ante every hand, the button posts the only ante at the table. From level 2 onward, the button ante is equal to the big blind. Blinds start at 2,500/5,000 with a 2,500-chip button ante.

Tony Cousineau raised to 12,000 from under the gun, the player in the cutoff called, partypoker Sponsored Pro Kristen Bicknell called from the small blind, and the big blind called, as well.

The flop came {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades} and action checked around.

The turn brought the {10-Spades}, Cousineau bet 25,000, all three of his opponents folded, and he took the pot.

Boatman's Tens are Good

Barny Boatman
Barny Boatman

With what looked like 118,000 already in the middle and the board reading {5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts} Barny Boatman checked from under the gun, the hijack checked, and the cutoff bet 105,500. Boatman called and the hijack folded.

The turn brought the {7-Clubs} and Boatman checked. His opponent checked behind.

Both players checked again on the {K-Diamonds} river. Boatman tabled {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, his opponent mucked, and he took the pot.

Linde Gets a Fold from Boatman

Level 2 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

There was already about 125,000 in the pot and the board read {5-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} when we got to the table. Dylan Linde was under the gun and checked, a player in middle position bet 35,000, Barny Boatman called from the cutoff, and Linde check-raised to 150,000. The middle-position player folded and Boatman called.

The turn brought the {5-Diamonds} and Linde bet 275,000. Boatman let out an exasperated sigh and leaned back in his chair before folding {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} face-up. Linde smiled and showed the {4-Clubs} before the dealer pushed the pot his way.
