Battle of the Blinds Goes to Cheong

Level 22 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

The action folded around to Marc-Andre Ladouceur in the small blind who just limped in. Joseph Cheong checked his option from the big blind and the flop came {q-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. Ladouceur led out for 400,000 and Cheong called.

The {j-Spades} peeled off on the turn and Ladouceur fired another 900,000. Cheong called again and the {5-Diamonds} completed the board. Ladouceur checked this time and Cheong bet 2.2 million. Ladouceur thought for a moment but elected to fold, sending the pot to Cheong.

Godwin Wins An All In

Level 21 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

Charlie Godwin opened with a raise to 625,000 with action folding around to Aliaksei Bouka in the small blind who 3-bet shoved for his last 2,300,000. Godwin called quickly and the cards were on their backs.

It was Godwin's {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} out in front, and needing to fade just three outs of Boika's {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. The {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop was relatively sweat-free for Godwin, although Boika did pick up a pair on the {8-Hearts} turn. The {5-Clubs} bricked the river, and Godwin dragged in the pot as Boika headed for the payout desk.

Facing a raise to 675,000, Maduka Meragal put in a 3-bet to 1,625,000 which was quickly called.

Both players checked the {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop, with Meragal checking the {5-Diamonds} turn and prompting his opponent to put out a bet of 600,000. Meragal called and both players checked once again on the {k-Diamonds} river.

"Ace high?" queried Meragal, tabling {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}. His opponent whinced, before mucking his hand and conceding the pot.

Mike Sexton raised to 600,000 on the button and Matt Glantz shoved all in for 2.525 million out of the big blind. Sexton quickly called and tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. Glantz was in trouble with {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and his tournament life at risk.

The flop fell {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades} giving Glantz some chop outs. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and the river landed the {9-Diamonds}. Glantz hit a nine to double up through Sexton and keep his tournament hopes alive.

Meragal Flips Well

Level 21 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

After raising pre-flop to 700,000, Maduka Meragal was faced with a 7,000,000-chip all-in from the player in the big blind.

Meragal gave it a little thought before declaring, "alright, I'll gamble."

He tabled {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and found himself flipping versus {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, and had his opponent drawing to a chop when the dealer spread the {6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop. It was all over on the {9-Spades} turn, but Meragal made absolutely sure when he rivered the {6-Hearts} for quads.

With a little over 4.0 million in the pot, the board read {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and Jason Koon checked from the big blind. Padraig Parkinson announced all in for around 16.0 million and Koon's eyes opened wide.

He thought for a moment and then stuck in a stack of chips to call. Parkinson mumbled "pair," but Koon waited to see the cards. Finally, Parkinson tabled {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Koon turned over {k-Spades}{9-Spades}. Koon had Parkinson slightly covered and was just shipped an early Christmas present as Parkinson was sent to the cash cage to collect his money.
