partypoker LIVE Grand Prix Austria

Day 3 of the partypoker LIVE Grand Prix €115 Main Event at the Montesino Casino starts today at 1 pm local time. 24 out of 278 players that started on yesterday will return to play. The 11 players that survived Day 2b in CCC Simmering and the 8 players that survived the Day 2 online will be added to the mix in the hunt for the Main Event Trophy.

Vladimir Burstein from the Czech Republic is leading the 41-player strong field with 19,925,000 chips. Having played on Day 2b in Simmering, he will be looking to see if his strong start will also get him to the finish line today. Burstein's biggest cash took place this summer in Las Vegas when he cashed $13,861 in the Crazy Eights tournament.

Second in the chip counts is Rolando Lombardi from Italy with 11,575,000 chips which is about 33 big blinds less than Burstein. Closing out the top three chip counts is Rene Wolech with 10,875,000 chips. He had a good day at the Montesino Casino yesterday and will do his utter best to continue his deep run.

Zoran Spindler is the player with the shortest stack with only ten big blinds. His highest cash up till now is €1,200 in Simmering in 2015. He will be aiming to improve that today. Other players to keep an eye on are Harald Heigl (10,775,000), Gabor Deak (10,380,000), Mirek Spicka (10,325,000), Pavel Chalupka (6,105,000), Anthony Ghamrawi (5,125,000) and Alain Raoul Medesan (2,975,000).

The blinds will begin at 125,000/250,000 with a button ante of 250,000 and they will continue playing until a winner has been crowned. The levels will be 60 minutes long until they reach heads-up play where the blind levels will decrease to 30 minutes.

The partypoker Twitch channel will be live streaming the feature table (Table #37) with hole cards from 1.30 pm with a 30-minute delay. So keep following the live updates from start to finish here on PokerNews to find out who will finish in first place and take that trophy home with them.

Who's Got A Golden Ticket?

Level 33 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
The Golden Chip could become a ticket to the Caribbean Poker Party
The Golden Chip could become a ticket to the Caribbean Poker Party

The first 100 players who qualified for Grand Prix Austria via an online Day 1 on partypoker bagged themselves a Golden Chip. If any of those Golden Chips reach the final table, the proprietor will bag themselves a $10,000 package to the Caribbean Poker Party in sunny Punta Cana!

This package includes flights, accommodation, transfers, and entry to the $5,300 CPP Main Event!

Out of those 100 Golden Chips in play, just eight are left in as we start the final day. One of those belongs to Gabor Deak, who started the day fifth in chips and seems the most likely to guarantee himself a trip to the Caribbean! We'll be following our Golden Chip holders closely as play continues.

Rafael Shamonov raised to 1,000,000, Giorgi Tsintsadze decided to shove all in and was called by Shamonov.

Giorgi Tsintsadze: {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Rafael Shamonov: {A-}{J-}

Shamonov needed some help as Tsintsadze had him covered. The board ran out {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Spades} - no help came and Shamonov was eliminated.

Deak Doubles Blind On Blind

Level 34 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Golden Chip holder, Gabor Deak, doubles up
Golden Chip holder, Gabor Deak, doubles up

Action folded all the way to Gabor Deak in the small blind, who raised it up to 700,000 before Christian Georgescu put in the 3-bet, making it enough to set Deak all-in.

Deak gleefully called, tabling {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}, and was in great shape to double up through Georgescu's {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

The {2-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Spades} flop gave Deak a straight flush draw to go with his aces, but he didn't want to see an offsuit 5! The board paired on the {3-Clubs} turn, and double-paired on the {4-Hearts} river, with the spoils heading Deak's way.

The very next hand he picked up a big chunk of change when he got a 3-bet squeeze through on the button, and he can now place his Golden Chip atop an eight-figure stack.

Music To Muszi's Ears

Level 35 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Levente Muszi scoops a huge one with quads
Levente Muszi scoops a huge one with quads

It was a rough orbit for Golden Chip holder Pavel Chalupka. He doubled up Ela Kubincova blind on blind, his {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} failing to hold, or even earn a chop versus {a-Spades}{3-Spades} as Kubincova made a flush on the {q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades} runout.

The hand after that, he shoved his remaining 1,100,000 from the small blind, with Rene Wolech agreeing to call without looking. Wolech's {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} hit a pair in the window, but ultimately fell short on the {8-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} runout, as Chalupka doubled back up.

The very next hand, action was folded to Chalupka's button, where he moved all-in, followed quickly by Wolech in the small blind. Leventa Muszi couldn't believe his eyes as he looked down at {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} closing the action in the big blind, confidently announcing "call." Chalupka's {a-Spades}{6-Hearts} was in last place, as Wolech tabled {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, but both players were drawing dead on a {j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{k-Spades} flop. The dealer made absolutely sure of the outcome, putting another {j-Spades} on the turn, giving Muszi quads, and the 12,000,000-chip pot.

Chalupka and Wolech both take home €1,750, as the field drops to just 18 players.

Lechner Drags A Big One

Level 36 : 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante
Martin Lechner drags in a big pot
Martin Lechner drags in a big pot

Rolando Lombardi opened to 1,250,000 from the cutoff, with action folding to Martin Lechner who defended his big blind.

Lechner checked the {3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop, prompting Lombardi to put out a 1,250,000 continuation bet, before coming over the top with check-raise to 3,500,000. Lombardi thought for a moment before making the call, with both players checking the {k-Hearts} turn.

The board paired on the {3-Diamonds} river, on which Lechner very deliberately cut out 5,000,000 in pink chips and slowly slid them over the line. Lombardi gave it 30 seconds or so, before sliding his chips over the line equally as slowly. Lechner tabled {q-Spades}{3-Spades} for trips, which seemed to both surprise and frustrate Lombardi, as he reluctantly passed his cards face down to the dealer, while Lechner dragged in a pot to take him into second place.

Ela Kubincova

Vladimir Burstein raised to 1,100,000 from the under-the-gun position. Christian Georgescu, in early position, E. A. on the button, Giorgi Tsintsadze and Ela Kubincova in the blinds, all called.

They all checked through the {4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} on the flop. The turn brought them the {Q-Clubs}, Tsintsadze, Kubincova and Burstein checked, Georgescu opened to 1,675,000. E. A. and Tsintadze folded and Kubincova shoved for about 5,800,000. Burstein folded and Georgescu thought for a while and then called.

Ela Kubincova: {Q-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Christian Georgescu: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}

Kubincova had turned two pair, queens and sevens. Georgescu needed the board to pair or a king to win this hand. The river completed the board with the {3-Diamonds} for Kubincova to take the pot and stack up.

Martin Lechner: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Stefan Raschbauer: {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
