Duta Calls But Law Answers

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Stephen Law made quad tens to survive on Day 2 of the partypokerLIVE Grand Prix UK
Stephen Law made quad tens to survive on Day 2 of the partypokerLIVE Grand Prix UK

Florian Duta three-bet with pocket queens and when Stephen Law piled all chips into the middle, Duta made a quick and correct call. He was right to do so, as Law only held {J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, but across the board, Duta was outdrawn as it came {J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}{10-Spades} to give Law quad tens and send Duta's stack spiralling.

Duta doubled back up a few hands later, but had he held on, he'd now have a million chips. As it stands, he is shorter than his conqueror in the hand, Law.

Rodriguez Cleans Out Hilton

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

After an under the gun open of 26,000 from Scott Rodriguez was met by a three bet of 76,000 by next to speak Adam Hilton, the two saw a flop of {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

A small continuation bet of 53,000 from Hilton once again saw a call from Rodriguez, bringing the {9-Hearts} on the turn.

This time, Rodriguez check-shoved over Hilton’s 125,000 bet for 171,000 with Hilton clearly in pain from the decision it had given him.

Hilton eventually made the call, showing his {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}, which was no good against the flopped full house of Scott's {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}.

The river was the {9-Spades}, sealing the pot for Rodriguez.

Frujina Thriving, Bone Busted

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Andrei Frujina is our current clear chip leader on Day 2d, with Adam Bone the latest player to bust while Friujina has been making profit.

In the latest victorious hand for the runaway leader, he made it 20,000 at blinds of 4,000/8,000/1,000 and was called by Adam Bone and Rachel Heneghan, who came into play today with 830,000.

The flop of {Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts} saw Frujina c-bet 56,000 and get two calls. The turn of {K-Spades} saw both Frujina and Bone check, so Heneghan bet 105,000 but she was called twice and all three players checked the {9-Diamonds} river as a result. Frujina held {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and cleaned up to add to his pile. Heneghan took a hit but Bone's stack was sufficiently weakened to see him bust just a few hands later.

Hilton Playing Five-Star Poker

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Dusk Till Dawn regular Adam Hilton has been absolutely bossing his table. We are four away from the money, but he is not here to min-cash and has remained as fearless as ever.

Gareth Cresswell was Hilton's first victim: Hilton opened to 40k under the gun and called Cresswell's 114,000 three-bet, before leading on an {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop for 85,000 and following that up with a 135,000 turn bet when the {Q-Clubs} landed. Cresswell reluctantly folded what he claimed was two kings, while Hilton showed {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} before offering the classic backhanded compliment, "I know you're good enough to fold there."

The very next hand, Hilton and Cresswell get involved again, both calling Richard Wright's massive 65k pre-flop open from UTG+1. Hilton check-called Wright's 85,000 c-bet on {4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{Q-Spades} before the two of them checked down a {Q-Clubs} turn {4-Hearts} river runout. Hilton held on with {A-Spades}{10-Spades}, and has built back up to around 800,000.

Wallsgrove Walks from Day 2 and Day 1!

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Tom Wallsgrove on his way to the second of two painful bust-outs.
Tom Wallsgrove on his way to the second of two painful bust-outs.

Tom Wallsgrove busted both his Day 2 stack and then a late registered Day 1 stack in unfortunate circumstances to say the least.

First, Tom opened with pocket aces on Day 2 of the Grand Prix UK Main Event here in Nottingham. He was three-bet by Ali Ayub and so four-bet to 100,000 with 350,000 behind. His opponent called and Wallsgrove went to the flop of {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. All the money went into the middle, with Wallsgrove's opponent holding {Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. the runner-runner clubs on turn and river set Wallsgrove to the registration desk.

Once he was sat in Day 1's 12noon flight (there are two more at 5pm and 9pm local time) , Wallsgrove ran a little short early on and three-bet all-in for 18,600 with {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. Amazingly, he was called in three spots and up against {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, {A-Spades}{7-Spades} and {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Those pocket tens couldn't quite believe the equity they had in the hand, and held to eliminate the other three players, Wallsgrove amongst them.

"I'll hopefully play the online Day 2 tomorrow night. I think it'll finish around 2am and then it'll be possible to make it here for 12 for Day 3. that's the plan!"

Dukes Avoids Hazard

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Harry Dukes survives on the bubble...never in doubt (honest)!
Harry Dukes survives on the bubble...never in doubt (honest)!

That bubble was a sweaty one for a number of players!

On table 22, Kfir Ivgi opened UTG+1 to 40,000, before Harry Dukes moved all-in for his last 265,000. Ivgi made the call to put Dukes at risk. The cards remained face down while hands in progress on the other tables were completed. After the dust settled elsewhere, it was revealed that Dukes was an 80% favourite to win the hand with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} against Ivgi's {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}.

The flop wasn't compliant to Dukes' needs, giving Ivgi a full house on {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. As Dukes opened up the camera on his phone to take a picture of what was to be his sick bust-out hand, he instantly turned a {Q-Spades} to put him firmly back in front and needing to fade the case nine. The {10-Clubs} was close, but no cigar, and Dukes faded the bubble bad beat.

Florian Duta is Bubble Boy on Day 2d

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The bubble has burst here in Nottingham at the Grand Prix Main Event, with the action happening on a {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Spades} flop with Rachel Heneghan leading out for 60,000. She picked up a call from the player on the button, before Florian Duta check-shoved for his last 370,000 chips. Heneghan moved swiftly out of the way, with the player on the button making the instant call!

Duta rolled over {A-Spades}{10-Hearts} and was in desperate need of a spade versus the button's top set of sevens. The board ran out as dry as they come, with the {3-Clubs} on the turn and {2-Diamonds} on the river. That meant Florian Duta was the unfortunate bubble boy of Day 2D, with everyone else having locked up the £400 min-cash! Day 2 players now race for the biggest chip-stack they can take through to Day 3's final on Sunday.

No Barr Holds

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Cohen smiles after surviving on Day 2
Cohen smiles after surviving on Day 2

Johnny Barr shoved his last 207,000 into the middle from early position with table chipleader Alan Summers attempting to isolate by coming over the top for his entire 1,700,000 stack. David Cohen in the small blind was getting a good price to put his last 273,000 chips in, and all of a sudden we had a three-way all-in. Lam Trinh looked disappointingly at his {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} in the big blind before quickly tossing it into the muck.

Johnny Barr {A-Spades}{9-Spades}
Alan Summers {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}
David Cohen {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

Everything got shaken up when the {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts} landed, giving Barr the best hand. Trinh leaped out of his seat as he would have flopped a straight. The turn {Q-Diamonds} gives Cohen a little sweat and he started chanting for a ten on the river.

The river was the {10-Spades} and while Barr turned away in disgust, Summers' face was one of disappointment throughout, while Cohen was absolutely loving life, the almost triple-up heading his way.
