Bura Bows Out

Level 19 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Maksim Bura pushed all in from the small blind for what appeared to be 1.2 million and Andrejs Perederejevs in the big blind snap-called.

Maksim Bura: {6-Spades}{5-Spades}
Andrejs Perederejevs: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop gave Bura some hope, but the {2-Diamonds} turn and {K-Spades} river provided no help.

Andrey Pateychuk
Andrey Pateychuk

The flop was down {4-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, and Garri Tevosov bet 350,000 from the small blind and saw Andrey Pateychuk make the call in the cutoff. The turn brought the {j-Diamonds}, and Pateychuk called another bet from Tevosov, this time for 450,000. Both players checked after the river was revealed to be the {8-Clubs}, and Pateychuk tabled {j-}{9-} for trip jacks after Tevosov had flipped over pocket sevens.

Houzvicek Busts to Wilf

Level 19 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Matous Houzvicek
Matous Houzvicek

Matous Houzvicek put his tournament life on the line with the flop down {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades} and was called by Saar Wilf.

Houzvicek had a pair of tens with {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, and Wilf needed to hit with the flush draw as he held {a-Spades}{5-Spades}. The turn {k-Diamonds} changed nothing, but when the river card was revealed to be the {4-Spades}, Wilf celebrated as he hit the nut flush and scored an elimination.

Defending Champion Gofman Eliminated

Level 19 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Aleksandr Gofman
Aleksandr Gofman

The cards of Aleksandr Gofman were already in the muck and Michael Sklenicka confirmed that Gofman had held pocket kings against his {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. The board of {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades} gave Sklenicka a pair of Aces and Gofman was left very short.

Soon after, Gofman was all in for the last 380,000 and Maksim Haitsiukevich was at risk for 2,385,000, Pavel Kireev in the small blind had both opponents comfortably covered to create a three-way showdown.

Aleksandr Gofman: {8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Maksim Haitsiukevich: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Pavel Kireev: {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Kireev more than doubled, while Gofman's dream to defend the title in Sochi was crushed in brutal fashion. Earlier in the day he had already lost kings to ace-queen as well.

Maxim Lykov
Maxim Lykov

The board was down {4-Spades}{k-Spades}{2-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, and Maxim Lykov was facing a big decision from under the gun. After Lykov had checked on the river, Andrey Chernokoz bet 1,850,000 into the 2,800,000 pot. Lykov had around 3,700,000 behind him and went into the tank.
