Leonard Eliminates Open Champion Sheils

Level 17 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Brandon Sheils
Brandon Sheils

partypoker pro Patrick Leonard raised to 200,000 from the cutoff and short stack Brandon Sheils moved all in from the small blind. Leonard got confirmation of the amount from the dealer and made the call.

Patrick Leonard: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Brandon Sheils: {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}

Board: {j-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Sheils was behind with the worse kicker to the ace and fell further behind on the flop when Leonard paired his jack. The four of hearts on the turn sealed Sheils fate, and the nine of spades on the river was no consolation. Sheils departs before the money places but has already had a fantastic week at Dusk Till Dawn after his victory in the Open for £180,000.

Leonard in the meantime moved up to 8.3m.

Level 17 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Vitalijs Zavorotnijs raised to 175,000 from the cutoff and was called by Sasa Lalos on the button. Antonios Koukouras shoved in the big blind and only Lalos called.

Antonios Koukouras: {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Sasa Lalos: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}

The board ran out {5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for them both to flop top pair but for Lalos' kicker to come into play to eliminate Koukouras from the tournament.

Silver Takes the Pot

Level 18 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

The board read {9-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} with around 800,000 in the middle already.

Daniel Matasaru bet 450,000 from the big blind and Max Silver had called from under the gun. James Romero was considering his options and after a minute or so decided to call.

The board was completed with the {q-Diamonds} on the turn. Matasaru and Silver both checked. Romero needed some time to think about what to do. Matasaru ended up calling the clock on him and Romero quickly checked too.

Matasaru mucked immediately, Silver tabled {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for the flopped pair of aces and that enough to make Romero muck too.
