Fitzgerald Climbs the Chip Counts

Level 9 : 1,500/3,500, 3,500 ante

An interesting hand has just taken place over on Steven Warburton's table and although he wasn't involved in the hand himself he was able to assist in the information.

The action started with a player moving all in for 31,000 with two players, including Thomas Fitzgerald calling.

The flop came {3-}{4-}{6-}, the turn brought a heart card and the river the {10-Hearts}. By this point, the pot had become considerable and Fitzgerald was all in.

His opponent folded and the cards went to showdown with the short stack still hoping his hand was best to double up.

Fitzgerald, who finished 3rd & 4th during two partypoker Irish Grand Prix last year for a combined total of €22,000, held {5-}{6-}, claimed the pot and was told by his opponent that he had folded the best hand, pocket jacks.

Kamel Calls On the River to Eliminate Maini

Level 8 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Vishal Maini
Vishal Maini

Tamer Kamel raised from under the gun position and saw Vishal Maini call on the button as well as the player in the big blind. On the {4-Spades}{9-Spades}{k-Diamonds} flop Kamel continued for 11k and just Maini called.

Kamel slowed down on the {6-Spades} turn and Maini took the initiative to bet 18,000, which Kamel called.

Maini then moved all in on the {10-Diamonds} river for 94,000 after Kamel had checked to him. It was not a snap call from Kamel and instead, he thought for several minutes before eventually calling.

Vishal Maini: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Tamer Kamel: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Maini's ace-high bluff was caught short and Kamel swooped the pot with a pair of kings.

Tom Middleton is the latest player who will need to play in either of tomorrow's final Main Event flights for a chance to make Friday's Day 2 after being eliminated here in Day 1b.

Middleton came into today fresh off of his partypoker UKPC Super High Roller fourth-place finish but has been unable to continue his good form today.
