Daniel Morgan Advances to Day 3 as Chipleader of the partypoker LIVE UK Poker Championships £1,100 Main Event

After eight 60-minute levels, Day 2 of the partypoker LIVE UK Poker Championships £1,100 Main Event has been concluded with 78 players coming back at noon tomorrow for Day 3.

Daniel Morgan (5,015,000) advances as the chip-leader with Alex Harrison (4,600,00), and Jamie O'Connor (3,300,000) close behind.

Other notable names coming back tomorrow are Manig Loeser (3,080,000), Michael Chi Zhang (2,425,000), Anthony Elliott (2,410,000), Ali Ayub (2,620,000), Enzo Del Piero (1,625,000), Chris Sly (1,550,000) and UKPC Super High Roller winner Steven Morris (2,900,000).

Before play begun, the prize pool information was released and announced that the winner would be taking home £187,500, with 119 players receiving a minimum cash of £2,500. All remaining players are now guaranteed at least £3,500.

Only two players came into today's play with over a million in chips but neither will be back for Day 3. Alex Luz had several important pots during the day with his biggest hand coming against Thomas Hemming. Luz bet 58,000 with the flop reading queen-jack-four and Hemming raised to 180,000. Luz was not prepared to call and instead moved all in. Hemming called and turned over queen-jack for top two pair, with Luz holding ace-ten and the nut flush draw. Hemming's hand improved to a full-house on the river to put a massive dent in the stack of the Day 2 chip-leader who could not rebuild.

Day 1b chip-leader Ludovic Geilich started well and was up to 1,800,000 chips at his peak, but his elimination was confirmed by the midpoint of the day.

When hand-for-hand play got underway, there were several short stacks around the tables looking to hold out for a place in the money. The first player to fall was Mark Mccluskey who held pocket-aces and was up against pocket-kings, only to see a king hit the flop and eliminate him.

The man to bubble the money was Dahe Liu. Like Mccluskey, he was also ahead of his opponent before the flop was dealt but had lost by the river. Liu moved all in from the small blind and was called by Ali Ayub in the big blind. Liu waited in anticipation to find out his fate while play at other tables had been completed. When the dealer was told to turn over their hole cards he saw his pocket-jacks were ahead of queen-deuce. However, the board ran out ace-queen-deuce-king-five, and he was awarded a UKPC Finale ticket as a consolation prize. The field then decreased rapidly after the bubble, and the big stacks started to emerge as the day drew to a close.

PokerNews coverage will continue in the partypoker LIVE UK Poker Championships at noon tomorrow as the field compete to make Sunday's final table.

Action folded to Dahe Liu in the small blind, and he moved all in for 150,000. Ali Ayub in the big blind called, and the dealer waited to be given the green light before revealing both players cards. After a few minutes, the thumbs up was given.

Dahe Liu: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Ali Ayub: {q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

Board: {a-Spades}{2-Clubs}{q-Hearts} {k-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}

Ayub hit a pair of queens on the flop to take the lead and held to eliminate Liu in 120th place. As a consolation prize Liu was presented with a £220 partypoker UKPC Finale ticket to use in tomorrow's Day 1c or Day 1d.

The tournament director went on to congratulate the remaining 119 players in the Main Event who are all now guaranteed a minimum of £2,500.

Taylor Over a Million After "Standard" Hand

Level 14 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Guy Taylor
Guy Taylor

Guy Taylor made a point of telling us he was over a million and his tablemate made Taylor tell us the story of how he had accumulated his new-found chips, despite Taylor's protestations that the hand was, in his words, "standard."

Taylor had limped and an opponent had raised to 18,000. Taylor called and the flop came {4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, and he check-called a bet. The pair checked the {4-Hearts} turn and the river was the {j-Clubs}. Taylor over bet the pot for 96,000 and his opponent snap-called.

Taylor showed {4-Spades}{8-Spades} for trip fours, with his opponent mucking {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}.

"It was standard," said Taylor.

Checking up on the recent eliminations we found that all three of the partypoker Ambassadors, including Ladies ambassador Louise Butler have been eliminated from the partypoker LIVE UK Poker Championships £1,100 Main Event.

According to Natalia Breviglieri, she got her last 14 big blinds in with pocket threes, only for another player to wake up with aces and send her to the rail.

Maria Lampropulos
Maria Lampropulos

Such is the size of the Day 2 field here in the partypoker LIVE UK Poker Championships £1,100 Main Event, there were half a dozen or so tables out in the marquee, which are slowly being broken into the main room.

One of the most recent tables to break contained former MILLIONS UK winner Maria Lampropulos. As she left the marquee she was stopped by Emma Tolley, also still in the Main Event.

"I just wanted to congratulate you on your recent successes," said Tolley, and the ever-gracious Lampropulos thanked her.

It just serves as a reminder of how much of an effect Lampropulos and her wins here at Dusk Till Dawn and more recently at the PCA are having on women's poker and poker in general.
