Tony G, Leon Tsoukernik Bag Big in Triton Short Deck

Level 12
Triton Short Deck
Triton Short Deck

It’s hard to imagine that the turnout for the Triton Short Deck event at partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Europe could have been any more lively, entertaining and star-studded. At the end of Day 1 play 27 total entries whittled down to the final table of seven players in the €25,300 buy-in event.

Those seven will come back Wednesday afternoon to play down to the five money spots and eventually crown a champion. Day 2 will restart at noon local time, at Level 13 with the ante and button ante at 20,000 and 40,000.

Tony G (2,305,000) and Leon Tsoukernik (1,700,000) bagged the biggest stacks at the end of Day 1, closely followed by Yake Wu (1,685,000).

Those players will be joined by Cary Katz (1,025,000), Liang Yu (525,000), Paul Phua (453,000) and Choon Tong Siow (405,000), and those seven players will battle it out for the championship and top prize of €237,250.

Action at the final table slowed down, after a wild day of all ins, multiple entries and fascinating interaction among some of poker's biggest and boldest personalities. Some of the participants not making it through to Day 2 included Phil Ivey and Richard Yong, both of whom fired multiple bullets but couldn't survive the craziness of what turned out to be an action-packed day at King's Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic.

Play was originally scheduled for six 40-minute levels on Day 1, but after a change in starting time and agreements among players, the decision was made to go with 30-minute levels. That format will continue Wednesday, as the final table plays down to a champion.
