Day 1 Started
It's a huge Sunday at partypoker this weekend as the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Online Championships (WOC) are now in full swing. There is $800,000 in guarantees on tap for today across five different events, plus Day 1a of the massive $5 million WPT WOC Main Event.
Among the games are some familiar Sunday friends, with new clothes. The Grand and The Weekender Final Day are still running, just with WPT branding attached. Additionally, regular Sunday games like The Sunday 500 and The Sunday 200 have morphed into the WPT Super $530 and WPT Super $215.
All the games have gotten a guarantee boost this weekend along with their shiny new WPT identities - WPT Grand is guaranteeing $300,000, a number they eclipsed last week in the same event. There is $150,000 guaranteed for the WPT Weekender Final Day, and the WPT Super $530, while the WPT Super $55 and WPT Super $215 both guarantee $100,000.
The big game for the day will be Day 1a of the WPT WOC Main Event, with $5 million guaranteed for the full event. Today will mark the first full chance to bag a stack for Day 2 in this event, so none of the prizes will be handed out today, but by the end of today, some players will know they have a shot at part of that guarantee with the Day 2 stack.
Two games, WPT Grand and WPT Super $215 both kick off at 12:05 ET, while the WPT Super $530 and WPT Super $55 get underway at 13:05 ET. The final two feature games today, WPT Weekender Final Day and Day 1a of the WPT WOC Main Event, get going at 14:05 ET.
With about an hour to go to the start of the first two feature games of the day, there is already a lot of interest. WPT Grand has 84 entries so far, including a few people who have booked bogger-than-start stacks through earlier feeder tournaments. Edwin Stiksma currently leads the way in that on with almost 3.5 million chips to start today's final phase.
Stay tuned here at PokerNews today for updates on all the big Sunday games running today. By the time today is finished, at least $800,000 in prizes will be handed out, and a cadre of players will have Day 2 chips in the bag for the WPT WOC Main Event.

Two more big events are just getting underway now. WPT Super $520 and WPT Super $55 are both in Level 1 action, with cards just in the air. And there are still two more big games coming up after the top of the next hour, as WPT Weekender Final Day gets underway alongside the huge opening Day 1 flight for WPT WOC Main Event with $5 million guaranteed.
