EPT Winner Busts to Bracelet Holder

Level 24 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Jan Bendik
Jan Bendik

Jan Bendik is no more in this partypoker LIVE Million Germany Main Event after losing a big pot to German poker veteran Eddy Scharf. Scharf opened to 150,000 and a player flatted before Jan Bendik reraised to 475,000 out of the small blind. Just Scharf made the call.

The flop came down {6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and Bendik lead out for 475,000, Scharf put Bendik to the test for around 900,000 more and Bendik committed the rest of his stack.

Scharf: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Bendik: {7-Clubs}{7-}

Scharf had flopped top set, but Bendik had outs to the flush. The {5-Diamonds} gave the Slovak additional outs to make a straight, but the {3-Diamonds} river paired the board and sent the pot to the 2001 Fixed Limit Omaha bracelet winner.

The very next hand Miroslav Janek was sent packing as well when he ran {K-}{9-} into the {A-}{K-} of Jaroslav Peter, and that leaves just 44 players left in this tournament.

Krushorev Crushes Piotrowski

Level 24 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

The action folded around to Przemyslaw Piotrowski in the small blind, and the Polak moved all-in for around 500,000 holding {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Kristian Krushorev in the big blind made the call with {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}, and they held all the way to the bank as the board ran out {9-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

James Akenhead Eliminated in 40th Place

Level 24 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
James Akenhead
James Akenhead

British poker pro James Akenhead was just eliminated in 40th place. As he open-jammed {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, his friend Ludovic Geilich popped over to see how things were going.

Seconds later, Akenhead was called by Grzegorz Gosk holding {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}.

Akenhead stood up after the {J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop despite having top pair and runner-runner straight and flush draws. The {K-Diamonds} on the turn gave Gosk a set, but also opened up more outs for Akenhead. The {2-Hearts} was the nail in the coffin and Akenhead was eliminated in 41st place for €4,500.

Meanwhile, Gosk's chip stack soared to 2.65 million.

Michaelis Makes the Most of it

Level 24 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Paul Michaelis
Paul Michaelis

Sonay Kehya made it 175,000 preflop, and only Paul Michaelis on the button made the call. The two players checked through the {6-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop before Michaelis fired 160,000 on the {3-Spades} turn. Kehya called quickly.

The {5-Diamonds} river saw Kehya check a third time, and this Michaelis bet a hefty 560,000, prompting Kehya to throw a single blue 100K chip in the middle to signal a call.

Michaelis slammed {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} in the felt, and Kehya shook his head and cut out the right amount.

"Good for you, baby," Kehya said in somewhat of a Scotty Nguyen imitation after handing over the chips. Michaelis just smiled.

Eddy Scharf Tops the Standings After Massive Double Knock-Out

Level 25 : 50,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Eddy Scharf
Eddy Scharf

Eddy Scharf entered the pot with a raise to 225,000 from second position, and Daniel Malek in the cutoff moved all-in for around 800,000. Lukas Jebany in the small blind moved in over the top for 1.7 million, and Eddy Scharf with the bigger stack quickly made the call.

Daniel Malek: {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Lukas Jebany: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Eddy Scharf: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The WSOP bracelet holder was a favorite to secure a late night double knock-out, and that was exactly what happened as the dealer completed the {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts} board.

Scharf is now the overwhelming chip leader with more than three times the average stack. A cautious guess on Scharf's massive stack would be around 7.5 million.
