The partypoker US Network Progressive Knockout (PKO) series is here! The series is comprised of nine events featuring buy-ins from $20 up to $320 with more than $150,000 in guarantees.
Once again, PokerNews will offer daily live updates throughout the entirety of the series, which is open to players in New Jersey and will run on the trio of online poker sites that comprised the partypoker US Network – partypoker US, Borgata Poker and BetMGM Poker.
For this event, we will update this blog daily with the Day 1 phases and offer traditional live updates during Sunday's Day 2 finale on August 2.
For those that don’t know, PKO tournaments have become a popular form of tournament poker in recent years. The premise is simple – whenever a player eliminates someone and claims a bounty, a predetermined percentage of that bounty (usually 50%) goes directly to the victor’s bankroll while the other part adds to the bounty that they have on their own head. In other words, the more players someone eliminates, the bigger their own bounty becomes.
As for the $75K GTD Main Event, it will not only be a PKO but also played in the network’s popular Phased format. What that means is that each night at 8 p.m. PDT there will be a $35 Phase 1 flight in which the surviving players carry over their chip stacks into the Phase 2 finale on Sunday, August 2. Additionally, players can skip the Phase 1 flights and buy directly into Phase 2 for $320 if they so choose.
There will also be daily qualifiers ($5 buy-in) into both the Phase 1 (~1 in 8 will win $35 Phase 1 entry) and into the Satellite for Phase 2 (1 in 10 will win $45 satellite entry); and a daily $45 satellite into Phase 2 (1 in 8 will win $320 Phase 2 entry).
