Ryan “TheSims” Hohner Wins partypoker US Network Online Series Event #3: $5,000 GTD 6-Max R/A for $2,074

Ryan Hohner
Ryan Hohner

Ryan "TheSims" Hohner is the most recent winner of a partypoker US Network Online Series tournament, taking down Event #3: $5,000 GTD 6-Max R/A for the top prize of $2,074. Hohner outlasted a field of 96 entries at $20 apiece. Another 211 rebuys and 32 add-ons were also recorded, generating a total prize pool of $6,102 to exceed the guaranteed prize pool by more than 20%.

Hohner is no stranger to poker success, with over $654,000 in live tournament earnings. His largest cash came in his home state of New Jersey, when he took second place in the 2018 Borgata Winter Poker Open $600 Kick-Off Event for $245,967. He also cashed in that same event this past January, following it up with another in-the-money finish in the 2020 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open $3,500 Main Event later in the month.

He was able to amass the chip lead as hand-for-hand play began with 11 players remaining, and further increased his lead by way of a knockout and numberous pots without showdown as bubble play went on for over 20 minutes. The chip lead remained his all the way until heads-up play began, when eventual runner-up "plumberboy699" entered the match with a slight advantage after eliminating "schaf4206" (4th place) and "bmweiser (3rd place) in quick succession.

However, Hohner quickly found pocket aces and was able to get stacks in on the turn with an eight-high board when "plumberboy699" had an eight. He found himself with more than a five-to-one chip advantage, and ended up with all the chips less than a level of play later, putting the final stamp on the tournament with trip threes to earn a payday of more than $2,000.

"bmweiser": {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
"plumberboy699": {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

No help came for "bmweiser" as the board ran out {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and they were eliminated from the tournament in third place, earning $796 for their efforts.

"schaf4206" Eliminated in 4th Place ($610)

"schaf4206"
"schaf4206"

In Level 30 with blinds of 30,000/60,000 and an ante of 7,500, "schaf4206" got their last 500,000 all in preflop in the small blind against "plumberboy699" in the big blind.

"schaf4206": {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
"plumberboy699": {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}

"schaf4206" saw a low, dry flop of {9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts} but the turn {j-Clubs} gave "plumberboy699" eight more outs to a straight. One of them came on the river {8-Diamonds} and "schaf4206" found their ace-king high fall to the rivered backdoor straight of "plumberboy699" to result in them finishing the tournament in fourth place.

"golden13" Eliminated in 5th Place ($457)

"TheSims"
"TheSims"

In Level 29 with blinds of 25,000/50,000 and an ante of 6,250, "golden13" jammed for 625,000 in the hijack and action folded around to Ryan “TheSims” Hohner in the big blind, who called.

"golden13": {a-Spades}{4-Spades}
Ryan “TheSims” Hohner: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}

"golden13" was unable to hit a three outer or find any chop as the board ran out {a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, leaving their kicker no good and resulting in their elimination from the tournament in fifth place.

"yolegacy" Eliminated in 6th Place ($341)

"yolegacy"
"yolegacy"

In Level 28 with blinds of 20,000/40,000 and an ante of 5,000, "bmweiser" opened to 180,000 under the gun and "yolegacy" three-bet jammed for 977,000 in the cutoff. Action made its way back to "bmweiser" and they made the call.

"yolegacy": {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
"bmweiser": {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The two were in a classic coin flip situation for a pot of 2 million and "yolegacy" found a friendly flop of {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. However, the turn {10-Spades} gave "bmweiser" a full house and "yolegacy" was unable to hit a better full house as the river {q-Clubs} left them with Broadway, not enough to earn them the pot.

As a result, they were eliminated in sixth place for a $341 payday.

Final Table Is Reached after "Sunnyp99" and "humpy40" Find the Rail

"Sunnyp99"
"Sunnyp99"

In Level 28 with blinds of 20,000/40,000 and an ante of 5,000, action got all in preflop with "Sunnyp99" at risk for their last 15 big blinds in the small blind against "plumberboy699" in the big blind.

"Sunnyp99": {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
"plumberboy699": {7-Spades}{5-Spades}

"Sunnyp99" had an overpair to both of their opponent's cards but the flop {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}{k-Spades} gave "plumberboy699" both a pair and a flush draw. "Sunnyp99" faded all the outs on the turn {10-Hearts}, but the river {j-Spades} gave "plumberboy699" a flush and further improved them to a flush.

Moments later, "humpy40" was eliminated with {8-}{4-} after being out-kicked with trip eights versus "schaf4206" to finish in seventh place and take the tournament down to its official final table of six.

"cuser24" Eliminated on the Bubble by "golden13"

"golden13"
"golden13"

In Level 27 with blinds of 18,000/36,000 and an ante of 4,500, "cuser24" shoved for 347,000 in the hijack and "golden13" called on the button. Both players in the blinds folded.

"cuser24": {a-Spades}{7-Hearts}
"golden13": {a-Spades}{7-Hearts}

"golden13" found themselves dominated but picked up chop outs to a wheel on the flop {3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. The turn {3-Hearts} brought more chop outs to a double-paired board in addition to giving them nine new flush outs. Unfortunately for them, the river {a-Diamonds} improved them in a manner that also improved "golden13", giving both players aces up and leaving "golden13" with a queen kicker to earn them the knockout.

"cuser24" was eliminated in 10th place as a result, bringing the tournament officially into the money.

On the first hand of Level 25 with blinds of 14,000/28,000 and an ante of 3,500, "yolgecay" raised to 56,000 in the cutoff and "Carlosw2285" three-bet shoved for 198,000 on the button. Action folded back to "yolegacy" and they called.

"Carlosw2285": {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
"yolegacy": {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The flop cae {q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{10-Diamonds} to leave "Carlosw2285" in need of hitting running cards to stay alive. The turn {7-Spades} was the first step, giving him eight new outs, one of which was the river {3-Diamonds} to give them a straight and score them the double.

Meanwhile, "PayneKilla," "Bakerslky2812," and "rumpthumper" all found themselves dry on chips and just 12 players now remain.

"roystalin"
"roystalin"

In Level 22 with blinds of 8,000/16,000 and an ante of 2,000, Ted "roystalin" Ely jammed for 83,000 in the cutoff and saw the next two players fold before "plumberboy699" called in the big blind.

Ted "roystalin" Ely: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
"plumberboy699": {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}

The two were off to the races and Ely saw the first card put him in bad shape as the flop rolled off {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. The two outer failed to come on both the turn {j-Spades} and river {7-Diamonds} and he was eliminated from the tournament.

"JonnyG" was also eliminated after finding themselves short, and 22 players now remain.
