Congratulations to "King_Icon", Winner of Event #7: $20K GTD 40-Stack 8-Max for $4,800

The partypoker US Online Series has now crowned yet another champion here in Event #7: $20k GTD 40-Stack 8-Max. A total of 99 players showed up to battle it out and when the last chance saloon had closed for business it was "King_Icon" sitting atop the leaderboard, taking home $4,800 for their victory.

An action-filled tournament carried on right into the final table which saw endless shoves and countless card-up runouts. "King_Icon" seemed to be on the better end of most of those for the majority of the final table, carrying their throughout right up until only two remained.

This marks the first series victory for "King_Icon", adding quite a feat to their resume after besting "iwillbustyou" in heads-up. Both of the final two continued to fire, swapping pots until eventually "iwillbustyou" found themselves shove into a monster. "King_Icon" saw their opponent jam from the button and then looked down at rockets, snap-called the shove. A clean board locked up the tournament for "King_Icon" as "iwillbustyou" had to settle for runner-up.

Action of the Day

The highly-anticipated 40-stack started off with a bang, having an endless amount of action as all players sat down with 40 big blinds in an unlimited re-entry. Some notable players sat down early but failed to cash and that list includes Anthony "supremetny" Chin, Chris "rumpthumper" White, Dan "centrfieldr23" Lupo, Angel "chromeking" Lopez, and Daniel "leinad" Buzgon.

The 18 level late registration period saw a total of 99 by the end, accumulating a prize pool that was just $200 shy of the guaranteed $20,000 that was set. It was then announced that 16 players were to find a payday and it was Chin taking an exit as the inevitable bubble boy. Just moments after the money hit, a final table was set and it was "Livinitup55" leading the way.

First to take an exit was the well-known Sherrier who dropped out almost instantly as soon as the final table began when his jack-nine failed to top the queen-ten of "upayformypennys". It was then"acwhoosher" who was the executioner, sending out two with their pocket kings. Drew "maniacalmonk" O'Connell and "MBohmerwald23" shoved, only to run into the kings of "acwhoosher" who held on to take down the pot, dropping both of them with "MBohmerwald23" placing higher.

"upayformypennys" found themselves next on the chopping block when their queens failed to take on the big slick of "King_Icon" who turned a flush and "upayformypennys" was eliminated. Four-handed play was short and sweet as "Livinitup55" shoved their ace-jack into the ace-king of "iwillbustyou". The lead didn't change on the board and "Livinitup55" was sent out in fourth place.

"King_Icon" continued their terror on the final table, shoving queen-nine from the small blind and "acwhoosher" snap-called in the big blind for less with king-jack, putting themselves at risk. A flopped jack was great for "acwhoosher" but the rivered queen cemented it for "King_Icon", eliminating "acwhoosher" in third.

The heads-up portion of this event was a back-and-forth battle that saw multiple lead swings. Eventually "King_Icon" found the lead and an optimal spot to end the tournament. "iwillbustyou" shoved with king-four and "King_Icon" looked down at rockets, snap-calling. The board ran out clean for the aces and "King_Icon" scooped, sending "iwillbustyou" out as the runner-up.
