Knockout for "TheTerminator1"

Blinds: 3,500/7,000

"Pokerstudd09" moved all in from under the gun for his final 50,000 and change, and it folded around to "TheTerminator1" in the big blind. He made the call with {q-Spades}{9-Spades}, and he would shoot out to the lead on the flop of {9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. The board finished out {10-Spades} and {7-Hearts}, and the chips were sent over to "TheTerminator1."

A Look Ahead to the WPT Online Poker Open on partypoker US

WPT Online
WPT Online

Last month, the World Poker Tour (WPT) announced its first U.S.-based online Main Tour event, the $3,500 WPT Online Poker Open Main Event, set for a late December running in New Jersey. That one will also carry a guarantee of $1 million.

The WPT Online Poker Open Main Event will be held Dec. 27-29 on partypoker US Network for players in New Jersey.

The ambitious $1 million guarantee signifies how serious the WPT and partypoker are about making this a premier poker tournament worthy of the WPT name.

“The WPT Online Poker Open brings the most prestigious prize in poker to New Jersey and the partypoker US Network,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska in a presser. “WPT’s continued pivot toward online will continue with another landmark for regulated online poker in the United States.”

Indeed, the WPT has pivoted into a strong series of online offerings, however, all were offered to the dot-com partypoker player pool, a much larger bunch of customers than the prospective New Jersey pool. Drawing the necessary entries to meet the guarantee will require some effort, and the WPT already announced satellites will be available for as little as $5.

Tough River Chops for Ryan "Whosyourdoddy" Dodd

Blinds: 5,000/10,000

Ryan "Whosyourdoddy" Dodd looked to be in great shape to score a huge double knockout, when he held {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} against the {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} of "LondonE13" and the {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} of "daplumber." The flop of {8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} missed everyone, but the {2-Hearts} turn meant a three on the rive would save "LondonE13" from elimination.

Sure enough, the {3-Diamonds} came, giving "LondonE13" half the pot, but also sending the other half over to big stack Dodd.

"stephhub0331" Survives on the River

Blinds: 6,000/12,000

Action folded to "stephhub0331", who raised to 60,000, leaving behind just 2,000. Next to act, "MakiNuReload" moved all in over the top. Everyone else folded, and "stephhub0331" called with {j-Spades}{10-Spades}, which was very live against the {a-Clubs}{3-Spades} of "MakiNuReload." The flop of {q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} brought plenty of outs for "stephhub0331", and while the {9-Spades} on the turn didnt help, the {8-Diamonds} river sure did. "stephhub0331" survives near the bubble doubling up to over 150,000.

Sherrier Doubles Through Borenstein

Brian Sherrier
Brian Sherrier

Blinds: 7,000/14,000

Following an opening raise from Jon “Jetsfan411” Borenstein, Brian “TopCreature” Sherrier moved all in for his final 150,000 and change. Back to Borenstein, he called with {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, and he was flipping against the {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} of Sherrier. The flop of {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}{8-Hearts} shot him out to the lead, and the {j-Clubs} turn and {a-Diamonds} river changed nothing.

Hagerty Doubles Up Near the Bubble

Blinds: 8,000-16,000

After a raise to 80,000 from "RiverMan", Ryan “simlSgg” Hagerty moved all in for 135,000. It folded back to "RiverMan", who called with {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. He was dominated by the {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, and though the flop of {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{8-Spades} gave "RiverMan" some chop outs, and the {9-Spades} turn gave him some straight outs, the river {8-Hearts} didn't bring any further help.
