partypoker US Network Series (Jan. 17-24)

A new format for the partypoker US Network Online Series in the $215 buy-in Event #3: $15K GTD 40-Stack NLH turned out to be a hit, as 127 entries generated a total prize pool of $25,400, surpassing the guaranteed prize pool by more than 69%.

When all was said and done, "kgkg510" was the one to call themselves the victor, earning $5,483 after negotiating a heads-up chop with second-place finisher Jason "Riverman" Lawhun, whose second runner-up finish in as many nights earned him $4,447.

The pair of players outlasted a stacked final table that included the likes of Michael "UFOLDIWIN" St. John, Chris "rumpthumper" White, Kevin "sofcknsick" Campbell, Daniel "centrfieldr23" Lupo, Angel "chromeking" Lopez, and Event #2 fourth-place finisher "l23weeeeeeeee".

In total, 20 places paid on the night. Others to make it into the money and fall short of the final table included Event #2 Champion Eric "alwaysliquid" Vanauken (14th place), Dan "mj23style" Sewnig (16th place), David "TheKing411" Coleman (17th) Place, and Ryan "TheSims" Hohner (19th place).

The trio of BorgataPoker.com Sponsored Pros in Katie "KatieStone" Stone, Michael "Gags30" Gagliano, and Daniel "Leinad" Buzgon all played as well, though none of them made it into the money.

The heads-up match between Jason "Riverman" Lawhun and "kgkg510" lasted for only a couple of minutes before talks of a chop surfaced and were quickly agreed upon via chip values. When all was said and done, "RiverMan" earns $4,447 and "kgkg510" earns $5,483 for their efforts.

In Level 33 with blinds of 25,000/50,000 and an ante of 6,250, Michael "UFOLDIWIN" St. John shoved for 435,000 in the small blind and "RiverMan" called in the big blind for over 80% of his stack.

"RiverMan" had found their call to be the correct one as they were ahead of St. John. Things stayed that way as the runout came and St. John was eliminated in third place, earning $2,941 for his performance on the evening.

In Level 33 with blinds of 25,000/50,000 and an ante of 6,250, Kevin "sofcknsick" Campbell open-jammed for 303,000 in the cutoff and "kgkg510" three-bet to 556,000 on the button. Chris "rumpthumper" White was in the big blind and cold four-bet jammed for 1.644 million, sending action back to "kgkg510" who called to bring a total of more than 3.6 million into the middle.

Campbell picked up a gutshot straight draw on the flop , but that was the closest either player would get to a double as the turn and river left the pocket queens of "kgkg510" on top to eliminate both players on the same hand in fifth- and fourth places, respectively.

In Level 32 with blinds of 16,000/32,000 and an ante of 4,000, Daniel "centrfieldr23" Lupo jammed for 306,000 in the cutoff and received a call from Chris "rumpthumper" White in the small blind. "RiverMan" folded in the big blind and the two players' hands were shown.

Lupo was up against a pair of bullets and found himself shot down after the board ran out , finishing the tournament in sixth place and earning $1,295 for his efforts.

In Level 32 with blinds of 20,000/40,000 and an ante of 5,000, Angel "chromeking" Lopez jammed for 320,000 in the hijack and action folded around to Chris "rumpthumper" White in the big blind, who called.

The flop was of no help to Lopez, but he found a little bit of extra hope on the turn with a shot at a chop. Instead, the river landed and he was eliminated in seventh place for a payday of $1,016.

In Level 30 with blinds of 16,000/32,000 and an ante of 4,000, "l23weeeeeeeee" open-jammed for 10 big blinds on the button and received action from "kgkg510" in the small blind.

"l23weeeeeeeee" needed to win the coin flip to stay alive and the flop was extremely promising, giving them top two pair. Unfortunately for them, the turn gave "kgkg510" a backdoor flush draw that would fill up on the river to regain the best hand and eliminate "l23weeeeeeeee" in eighth place.

In Level 30 with blinds of 16,000/32,000 and an ante of 4,000, Chris "rumpthumper" White jammed for 233,000 in the hijack and Matthew "gailums" Gailums re-jammed for 312,000 in the small blind, prompting a fold behind.

Gailums picked up an open-ended straight draw on the flop but lost one of his live outs in the process. It all proved to be for naught, however, as the turn and river completed the runout to result in his elimination from the tournament in ninth place.

In Level 29 with blinds of 14,000/28,000 and an ante of 3,500, "kgkg510" opened to 70,000 on the button and Orson "Borgatcha" Young three-bet shoved for 205,000 in the small blind. Daniel "centrfieldr23" Lupo came over the top, also jamming for 565,000 and "kgkg510" folded to send the two off to the races.

Young wound up on the right end of the coin flip as the board ran out for his pocket nines to remain best and secure the double at Lupo's expense.

However, Moments later, Young wound up in another huge pot with "kgkg510", where Young opened in the hijack and "kgkg510" defended their big blind. Bets went in as the board came , with Young ultimately jamming the river and getting a call.

Young's bluff was caught by top pair and he was eliminated in 10th place as a result. With nine now remaining, hand-for-hand play is again in effect as the tournament has reached the final table bubble.

"EmeraldForest32" only found themselves in commanding shape for a quick second as the flop came to nearly quadruple the number of outs they had to sweat. The turn was just fine, but the river spelled doom as Gailums improved to the nut flush and eliminated "EmeraldForest32" on the direct bubble in 21st place.
