Sameer Batra Leads The Remaining 45 Day 1A Players of Big Stax XXXI 500

Twelve hours and 15 levels are in the books on Day 1a of the Big Stax XXXI 500, as 45 players find a bag from a 249 starting field to advance to Sunday’s Day 2.

Sameer Batra ended the day as the chip leader with 502,500. Batra was around the top throughout the day and held onto the chip lead even though Thomas Holowchuk made a run for it at the end of the night bagging 474,500, which was good enough for second.

Coming third in chips was Nicholas Bilotti, who ended the night with (410,500) after being down to just 22,500 to start the Level 13. Rounding out the top five stacks are Mike Kemeter (402,000) and John Forsyth (392,000).

Other players to advance include Ronan Teixeira (334,500), Vincent Teutonico, (271,500), Guoliang Chen (267,000), James Lillis (246,000), and Robert Link (191,500).

Two more starting flights remain, with Day 1b starting at 11 a.m. local time on Friday.

Bilotti Riding Major Heater; Over 300K

A player from early position open-jammed for 47,000 and Nicholas Bilotti came over the top from the hijack. Action was on James Lillis who four-bet jammed over the top from the cutoff getting isolation.

The flop was no help to Lillis nor was the turn as he needed an ace or king to spike to score the double elimination.

Forsyth Wakes Up with Rockets

Frank Brannan opened under the gun for 4,000 and the cutoff player three-bet to 12,000. Lloyd Breuer called on the button while John Forsyth four-bet to 40,000 from the big blind. Brannan mucked his hand while the cutoff player five-bet jammed getting a fold from Breuer and a call from Forsyth.

The turn brought a sweat for Forsyth bringing not only chop outs to the diamond but his opponent could win the hand with any jack.

There was three-way all in action on a board between Istvan Szabo from the hijack, Ronan Teixeira on the button and an early position player.

Teixeira flopped the flush with open-ended straight flush possibilities but the had was far from over as Szabo held a higher flush draw.

The turn brought some outs to the all-in player as he could now win the hand with any ace or ten.

Luckily for Teixeira, the river fell a brick with the and he collected 35,800 from Szabo, along with an extra 64,500 on top from the all-in player.
