Welcome to the second starting flight of the very popular Big Stax poker series here at Parx Casino in Bensalem, Pennsylvania as Day 1b Big Stax XXXI 500 is set to get underway at 11 a.m local time. Yesterday saw a total of 249 entries come out for the first starting flight and at the end of the night, only 45 players found a bag for Day 2.

Leading the Day 1a players was Sameer Batra, who bagged 502,500 by night's end. Second in chips was Thomas Holowchuk (474,500 ). Holowchuk staggered around the 200,000 mark until one of the very last hands of the night, when he took down a huge hand to catapult him into second in chips.

Another player who had a late-night push was Nicholas Bilotti, who bagged third in chips with (410,500) and ended the night withMike Kemeter (402,000) and John Forsyth 392,000) to round out the top five stacks.

Parx Big Stax XXXI 500 Outlook

Today's starting flights will kicks off at 11 a.m. All starting flights will play through Level 15. The surviving players from each flight will combine for Day 2 action on Sunday, October 6th, with the final table set to play out on Monday, October 7th.

The tournament will start players with 40,000 in chips with blinds lasting 45-minute for the starting flights. Day 2 will see levels upped to 60 minutes, while the final day will see them increased to 90 minutes .

15-minute breaks will occur after levels 3, 6 and 12 on each Day 1 with a dinner break at 6:30 p.m. It is an unlimited re-entry and best-stack-forward event. Late registration and re-entry will be available until Level 17 begins.

Pares Scoops Pot with River Bet

There was three-way action between Steven Pares on the button, Mark Nienow from the small blind and Salvatore Busacca from the big blind,

The board read and Nienow lead out for 3,800. Both Busacca and Pares called to see the river complete the board.

Action was checked to Pares who took down the pot with a 6,500 bet.

Gelman Pressures Elmo Off Pot

There was heads-up action after a flop between Gary Gelman from the hijack and Anthony Elmo on the button.

Gleman lead out for 2,500 into a 6,000 pot and got a quick call from Elmo to see the fall on the turn.

Gleman continued to be aggressive with a 6,000 bet and that was enough to get Elmo off his hand.

Modugno Eliminated by Busacca

Joe Palma opened action for 1,500 from late position and was called by Steven Paresfrom the hijack along with Salvatore Busacca on the button. Action was on Frank Modugno who three-bet jammed for roughly 20,000 from the small blind. Both Palma and Pares mucked their hands while Bysacca called.

Action was checked to Drabot who fired out 4,000 and Miller raised to 10,000 after the bug blind player folded.

Drabot tossed in the call to see the fal on the turn.

Malczan Shows Devore the Bluff

There was heads up action between John Malczan from late position and Sundiata Devore from the big blind.

The board read and Devore checked his option to Malczan who fired out 25,000 into a 40,000 pot.

Devore was in the tank going through every street but couldn't pull the trigger and mucked his hand.
