Day 2 of the High Roller

Welcome back for Day 2 of the 2010 PokerStars.net Caribbean Adventure High Roller Event. Yesterday saw a start-studded field take to the felt, with each player putting up $25,000. The field grew to over 80 players from last year's 48 and the list of big names in the field goes on and on.

Team PokerStars Pro was out in full effect with the likes of Joe Cada, Dario Minieri, Lex Veldhuis, Daniel Negreanu, Greg Raymer and Peter Eastgate. All of those guys made it through to today. We've gotten word that there was an error in counting the chips Veldhuis bagged up and he's actually the overnight chip leader with Minieri right behind him. Fellow team members Jason Mercier, John Duthie and Leo Fernandez were all sent to the rail.

Some other big names that will be coming back today include Bill Edler, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, Alex Brenes and Isaac Baron. Former EPT champions Carter Phillips (Barcelona 2009), Christophe Benzimra (Warsaw 2009) and Sandra Naujoks (Dortmund 2009) will also be back.

Play is scheduled to start back up at noon local time. The plan is to suspend play once we reach 24 players remaining. We hope to see you right back here for all the live updates.

Petersen's Day Cut Short

After William Reynolds raised from early position, Jan Petersen moved all in for 16,100 from the big blind. Reynolds made the call and tabled {A-Spades}

. Petersen held {A-Diamonds}

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}

and Petersen was sent home after a short day.

Don't Mess with the Lady

Dario Minieri opened from middle position to 2,300 and Lisa Hamilton reraised from the small blind to 7,000. MInieri made the call and two went to a flop of {8-Spades}

.

Hamilton fired 15,000 and Minieri called. The turn card was the {4-Hearts}

and Hamilton fired 26,500. Minieri folded and Hamilton scooped the chips.

On the next hand, Minieri opened again to 2,300. Hamilton called from the button and then Greg Raymer called from the big blind. The flop came down {8-Spades}

and action checked over to Hamilton. She bet 6,000 and Raymer and Minieri both mucked.

The reigning WSOP Ladies' Event champion is doing well in the early goings and up to 140,000.

ElkY Eliminated

On the button, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier moved all in for his last 5,400. Isaac Baron called from the small blind and Sami Kelopuro deliberated for a few moments before raising to 13,000 out of the big blind. Baron folded and Kelopuro tabled {K-Spades}

Grospellier was in trouble with {J-Hearts}

and found little help as the board ran out {J-Diamonds}

Last year's PCA High Roller Champion is out early on day two.

Raymer and Smith from yesterday's action

There was a raise to 2,500 by a player in middle position. Greg Raymer called on the button and Lex Veldhuis called from the small blind.

The flop fell down {J-Diamonds}

and Veldhuis checked. The middle-position player bet 5,200 and Raymer raised it to 16,200. Veldhuis folded and the unknown opponent moved all in for about 30,000.

Raymer called and revealed {8-Diamonds}

for a flopped flush, having the lead over his opponent's {Q-Diamonds}

. The turn and river rolled out the {4-Clubs}

and

, safe cards for Raymer, now sitting on a stack of 107,000.

Mikey Likes His New Table

Mike Matusow's starting table recently broke and upon arriving at his new table, he was very excited.

"Thank you Lord!" he proclaimd, seeing big stacks Lex Veldhuis and Dario Minieri. Greg Raymer chimed in too, telling Matusow nobody would confuse him for a solid player.

If you remember back to the 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event, Raymer and Matusow were famous for getting into it a few times throughout the course of the tournament.
