The Phantom Limp

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante
BrokeLivingJRB
BrokeLivingJRB

Over on Jean-Robert Bellande's table a player busted before his small blind, so naturally in the next hand there was only supposed to be a big blind. However, while pitching the cards, the dealer asked Bellande to put out a big blind (even though he was technically the under the gun player) and he obliged. Action folded to the actual big blind who checked and then Bellande tried to put in raise thinking he was the big blind. The table was dumbfounded at the situation and rather than resolve it themselves the dealer called for the floor.

No answer.

Another player shouted to no avail and then Bellande too command belting, "CAN WE GET A FLOORPERSON THAT WILL RULE IN MY FAVOR PLEASE?!?!?!"

Finally a floorperson made it to the table and ruled that since Bellande's "blind" was posted after the first card was dealt, the hand was dead. Bellande showed {a-}{10-} before sending his cards into the muck and the hand was re-dealt with the proper blinds.

Pocket Fives Working Well For Jarzabek

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Casey "bigdogpckts5s" Jarzabek has hit the 200,000 mark and he has done so with, what else, pocket fives.

Not only has he flopped a set of fives three times today, but most recently his flopped set became rivered quads. The board read {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts} with Jarzebek and an opponent getting their chips in. Jarzabek's {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} was in trouble against his opponent's {A-}{A-}, but the {5-Diamonds} river card gave the pot to Jarzabek and has vaulted him toward the top of the counts.

Cantu Doubles Opponent

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Brandon Cantu started things off by raising to 3,300 from the hijack seat. The action folded to a short-stacked player in the small blind who moved all in for 15,400.

"I hope you have king-queen," Cantu professed as he made the call.

Cantu turned over {a-Hearts}{4-Spades} and was quite dissappointed to see his opponent's {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. Cantu's hand did not improve as the board ran {5-Spades}{8-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and his stack dropped to 100,000.

Blom Rising

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

The player on the button raised to 3,000 and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom popped it to 8,500 from the small blind. The button called and the flop came down {Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. Blom fired 13,500 and was called, landing the {5-Diamonds} on the turn. Both checked, with the {7-Diamonds} following on the river. Blom fired 57,600, prompting a fold from his opponent.

Blom: Up to about 170,000

Senti Struggling

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Level Ten has been very pesky for Jason Senti thus far, and it just got even worse. Senti opened for a raise from late position and was called by a player in the blinds who has apparently been playing back at him for the majority of the tournament. Both players checked the {2-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop, but after the {7-Clubs} turned Senti's opponent led for 5,400. Senti called.

The river brought the {3-Spades} and again his opponent led for 9,400. Senti again called, but mucked when his opponent rolled over {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for a pair of queens.

Senti, who was once near 100,000 chips, is now down to starting stack with just 32,000.

Moneymaker vs. Timoshenko

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

On a {4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop, Yevgeniy Timoshenko bet 12,300 and was called by Chris Moneymaker. Both players then checked the {3-Clubs} turn and watched as the {K-Hearts} appeared on the river. Timoshenko led right on out for 24,500 only to have Moneymaker raise to 65,000. Timoshenko hit the tank hard after the raise, we're talking a 10-12 minute duration. Eventually Timoshenko folded and Moneymaker showed {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}. With that win, Moneymaker is up to 175,000.

"DP Finishes Strong!"

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Less than two hours ago Dwyte Pilgrim was nursing a stack of around 9,000. He now sits with 215,000! Most recently, Pilgrim raised enough to put his opponent, Alexandre Gomes, all in on the river. The board read {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades}{A-Spades} and Gomes ended up putting his tournament life on the line with pocket fours. Pilgrim held {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a full house and took down the pot.

"DP finishes strong," Pilgrim shouted as the night comes to an end.

Day 1b of the 2011 PokerStars.net Caribbean Adventure was expected to have a huge turnout and that is exactly what happened. While Day 1a drew 647 players, Day 1b saw 913 players enter, bringing the total number of entrants to 1,560. That is a 31-player increase over last year's PCA and created a prize pool of $15,132,000, which will be paid to the top 232 players with the winner taking home $2.3 million.

The day started with a laundry list of big-name players. Team PokerStars Pros in attendance included Jonathan Duhamel, Daniel Negreanu (Canada), Maria Mayrinck (Brazil), Lex Veldhuis (Netherlands), Vanessa Rousso (USA), Greg Raymer (USA), Jason Mercier (USA), and Barry Greenstein (USA), just to name a few. Unfortunately, none of those players managed to make it through the day. While some failed to survive, other survived. Teams PokerStars Pros who navigated Day 1b and will return for Day 2 include Liv Boeree (UK), Sandra Naujoks (Germany), Viktor "Isildur1" Blom (Sweden), and Chris Moneymaker (USA), who finished toward the top of the chip counts with 217,600.

Team PokerStars Pros were not the only big names in the field. Among the fallen were Phil "Unabomber" Laak, Eric Baldwin, Sorel Mizzi, Tom Marchese, Matt Affleck, John Racener, Antonio Esfandiari, Matthias Habernig, David Oppenheim, and Jonathan Little. While many top pros were eliminated, there are no shortage of big names making it to Day 2. Daniel Alaei, Praz Bansi, Alex Kostritsyn, Brazilian tennis superstar Gustavo Kuerten, and Dwyte Pilgrim, who shot up from 9,000 to 194,200 in the last two levels of the night, are all still in contention.

Joining Pilgrim and Moneymaker at the top of the chips counts are Walid Bou-Habib, the Day 1b chip leader with 239,000, Timothy Finne (225,100), Carol Ventura (225,000), Ilan Rouah (224,900), Tommy Vedes (220,200), and Adam Gabor (207,900).

All told, 373 players survived Day 1b and will join the 272 remaining players from Day 1a tomorrow for the start of Day 2, which is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. EST. Be sure to follow along right here as the PokerNews Live Reporting Team brings you all the action, eliminations, and drama from the 2011 PCA at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas.
