Elias Beats Up on Bardah

Level 3 : 200/400, 50 ante

Action folded to Ronnie Bardah on the button and he raised to 950. Darren Elias reraised to 2,750 from the small blind and Bardah called.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Elias fired 3,625. Bardah called. The turn brought the {8-Spades} and Elias checked. Bardah fired 4,450 and Elias moved all in. Bardah insta-mucked.

Minieri Now Heads Up

Level 3 : 200/400, 50 ante

Dario Minieri has done it again. This time he called Matt Affleck's all in preflop raise with {10-}{2-}. Affleck was ahead with {A-}{9-} but a deuce on the flop changed all that. Minieri would go on to river a jack-high straight and send Affleck to the rail. Minieri has knocked out four players in a row and will now seek to eliminate Henrik Tollefsen in heads-up action to make it a clean sweep.

Brenes Eliminates Papola

Level 4 : 300/600, 75 ante

Humberto Brenes raised to 1,400 from the cutoff only to have Jeffrey Papola move all in for 17,500 from the small blind. The big blind got out of the way and Brenes made the call:

Papola: {Q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Brenes: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}

"Humbertoooooo," Brenes shouted when the flop came down {9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and gave him a set; however, Papola picked up an open-ended straight draw. The {4-Hearts} on the turn changed nothing as Brenes continued to get louder. When the {10-Hearts} hit the river, Brenes celebrated with more shouts as Papola tossed over his bounty chip. Brenes is up to around 50,000.

Kennedy's Rockets

Level 4 : 300/600, 75 ante

Heather Sue Mercer and Darren Kennedy tangled in a preflop raising war that left Kennedy all in for 30,900. He was in fine shape, however, rolling over {A-Spades} {A-Clubs} to Mercer's {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}.

The board ran out {J-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {5-Spades} {8-Spades} {8-Clubs}, and Kennedy's aces hold to earn him the double. Mercer is in trouble now, down under 10,000.

Somerville Doubles Through Kostritsyn

Level 4 : 300/600, 75 ante

Alexander Kostritsyn raised to 3,500 only to have Jason Somerville move all in for 7,650 more. Action folded back to Kostritsyn and he made the call:

Somerville: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Kostritsyn: {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Somerville was in good shape and managed to improve on the {9-Spades}{J-Spades}{Q-Clubs} flop, though Kostritsyn had a gut-shot straight draw. The {2-Spades} on the turn changed nothing and neither did the {A-Hearts} river. Somerville doubled on the hand to around 23,000.

Minieri Turns the Tables

Level 4 : 300/600, 75 ante

Another match in the heads-up stages is Dario Minieri versus Henrik Tollefsen at Table 22. Minieri was at about a 2:1 chip disadvantage when he looked down at {8-Hearts} {8-Clubs} and opened from the button. Tollefsen three-bet to 4,600, Minieri reraised to 12,000, and Tollefsen shoved all in. Minieri made the call for his last 50,775 chips, and he was flipping for his survival against the {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}.

Minieri stood to sweat his fate, describing the situation machine gun Italian to his buddies on the rail. The dealer ran out {3-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {5-Clubs}, just fine for Minieri. "Finito?" he buddies asked. It's not over yet, but Minieri has now turned the tables. His stack of just over 100,000 gives him the 2:1 lead against Tollefsen.
