Brenes Eliminates Papola

Level 4 : 300/600, 75 ante

Humberto Brenes raised to 1,400 from the cutoff only to have Jeffrey Papola move all in for 17,500 from the small blind. The big blind got out of the way and Brenes made the call:

Papola: {Q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Brenes: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}

"Humbertoooooo," Brenes shouted when the flop came down {9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and gave him a set; however, Papola picked up an open-ended straight draw. The {4-Hearts} on the turn changed nothing as Brenes continued to get louder. When the {10-Hearts} hit the river, Brenes celebrated with more shouts as Papola tossed over his bounty chip. Brenes is up to around 50,000.

Minieri Now Heads Up

Level 3 : 200/400, 50 ante

Dario Minieri has done it again. This time he called Matt Affleck's all in preflop raise with {10-}{2-}. Affleck was ahead with {A-}{9-} but a deuce on the flop changed all that. Minieri would go on to river a jack-high straight and send Affleck to the rail. Minieri has knocked out four players in a row and will now seek to eliminate Henrik Tollefsen in heads-up action to make it a clean sweep.

Elias Beats Up on Bardah

Level 3 : 200/400, 50 ante

Action folded to Ronnie Bardah on the button and he raised to 950. Darren Elias reraised to 2,750 from the small blind and Bardah called.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Elias fired 3,625. Bardah called. The turn brought the {8-Spades} and Elias checked. Bardah fired 4,450 and Elias moved all in. Bardah insta-mucked.

Team PokerStars Updates

Level 3 : 200/400, 50 ante

The Team PokerStars Pros have had mixed results recently. Team Pro (Sweden) Viktor Blom couldn't capitalize on his recent double and was busted by Cliff Josephy.

Likewise, Team Pro (USA) Dennis Phillips got his last 9,000 in good with {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} against the {10-Hearts}{10-Spades} of Micah Raskin. Unfortunately for him, the board ran out {K-Spades}{3-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and he had to pass his bounty chip to his opponent.

On the other side of the spectrum, Team Pro (Canada) Greg Debora called the all in bet of Dwyte Pilgrim on a {5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop.

Debora: {J-Diamonds}{8-}
Pilgrim: {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Both players had flopped a straight draw but Debora's kicker was in play. The {Q-Clubs} turn changed nothing and neither did the {6-Clubs} on the river. Debora's jack-high was good enough to eliminate Pilgrim from the tournament.

Blom Moves All In

Level 3 : 200/400, 50 ante

James Dempsey was under the gun and raised to 1,025. Viktor Blom was next to act and called as the rest of the table got out of the way. Dempsey threw out a continuation bet of 1,700 on the {6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} flop and Blom called, leaving himself just 5,750 behind.

The dealer burned and turned the {7-Clubs} and Dempsey checked. Blom moved all in, Dempsey called, and the cards were turned up:

Dempsey: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Blom: {7-Spades}{6-Spades}

Blom was ahead with two pair and needed to dodge a diamond on the river. He did just that as it came the {2-Spades}, doubling him to around 17,000. Dempsey took a hit down to 11,500.
