Cold Four-Bet Shove from Watson

Mike Watson (Day 1)
Mike Watson (Day 1)

David Benefield opened to 17,000 from the hijack seat, David "Doc" Sands called in the cutoff, Jason Somerville three-bet to 55,000 on the button, and Mike Watson cold four-bet jammed for 251,000 from the big blind.

Benefield quickly folded, Sands examined Somerville's stack then tossed his cards in the muck, and Somerville mulled the decision over for 30 seconds or so, then folded as well.

Watson picked up the dead money, and is now up to 350,000 chips.

Bonomo Busted

Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

Justin Bonomo moved all in from early position for his last 81,000 and received a call from Nick Schulman in the cutoff. The rest of the field got out of the way and the cards were turned up.

Showdown
Schulman: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Bonomo: {A-Spades}{4-Spades}

According to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Bonomo still had a 32.40% chance of winning the hand thanks to his over and suited cards. While he paired his four on the {8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop, that percentage actually dropped to 19.89%. The {J-Hearts} turn further dropped it to 11.36%, and the {10-Spades} river made it zero.

"Good luck," Bonomo said before taking his leave.

Dwan Done And Dusted

Tom Dwan
Tom Dwan

As previously mentioned, our access to the final table is limited, which is why we haven't been able to catch many hands from the main stage. With that said, we recently saw Tom "durrrr" Dwan exiting the stage and learned that he had just been eliminated after pushing with ace-nine and running into the ace-queen of Steve O'Dywer. Dwan received no help on the board and was dispatched here in Level 10.

Griffin: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, and Griffin was eliminated.

Somerville Quickly Goes From Big Stack To Out

Jason Somerville
Jason Somerville

Two big hands have reversed Jason Somerville's fortunes here in the $100K and he is now on the rail.

In the first, there was a flop of {6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Somerville had 54,000 laid out in front of him from the big blind. Anthony Gregg, who has final tabled two PCA Main Events, then raised to 107,000 from the cutoff, and Somerville responded by moving in all in. Gregg quickly called off for 353,000 total and had his opponent crushed.

Showdown
Somerville: {9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Gregg: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Somerville had flopped two pair but it was well behind Gregg's top set. Somerville was in need of running clubs to steal the pot, and he got one on the {8-Clubs} turn. Much to Gregg's relief, another didn't follow as the harmless {2-Hearts} appeared on the river. With that, Somerville was left with just 60,000.

Not long after, Somerville moved all in from early position for around 40,000 and Gregg isolated with a three-bet from the small blind.

Showdown
Gregg: {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Somerville: {Q-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Somerville would receive no help on the dry board and was left shaking his head.

Watson Cracks Benefield's Kings

Mike Watson opened for 18,000 from the hijack and was met by a three-bet to 44,000 by David Benefield in the small blind. Watson responded by moving all in, Benefield called, and the cards were tabled:

Showdown
Watson: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Benefield: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

Watson was in need of an ace, and he found one on the {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop. Neither the {3-Spades} turn nor {J-Diamonds} river would allow Benefield to catch back up, and Watson received a welcomed double.

Ivey Crosses a Half Million

Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Vanessa Selbst and Phil Ivey were heads up on a board of {5-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. Selbst checked, and Ivey tossed out six green T25,000 chips, making it 150,000 (a pot-sized bet).

Selbst tanked for the better part of a minute, re-checking he cards several times before unhappily folding. Ivey quickly mucked the winner, and raked in the pot.
