Kuzmich Takes Out Anderson

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Calvin Anderson just walked out of the tournament room and as he was previously sitting next to former WSOP champion we asked Greg Merson what went down.

According to Merson Paul Kuzmich raised to 2,600 and Anderson called from the button. The flop brought {K-}{J-}{4-} and Karakousis checked to Anderson who bet and his opponent called.

On the turn the {10-Clubs} hit and that put a backdoor flush possibility out there. Kuzmich check-called another bet and on the river the {A-Clubs} popped up.

Kuzmich lead out for 14,200, Anderson raised to 50,000 and Kuzmich moved all in. Anderson made the call holding {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and that was no good against Kuzmich's {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

Aces vs. Aces vs. Nines

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

From under the gun, Zachary Hyman raised to an unknown amount, and then Faraz Jaka three-bet to an unknown amount from the hijack seat. Ole Schemion then four-bet to 18,500 on the button, and Hyman called all in for just under that. Jaka then made it 39,000 to go, Schemion moved all in, and Jaka snapped.

Jaka: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}
Schemion: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Hyman: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

The flop, turn, and river ran out {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, and Hyman was eliminated while Schemion and Jaka chopped up the pot.

Garcia Takes One

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

From under the gun, Nicholas Petrangelo raised to 2,500. Joseph Cheong called from the next seat in the hijack position, Francisco Garcia called from the small blind, and Jeff Gross called out of the big blind.

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, and action checked over to Cheong. He bet 5,500, and only Garcia called to see the {5-Clubs} land on the turn. Garcia and Cheong checked, then the {3-Clubs} completed the board. Garcia bet 15,000, and Cheong folded.

Reilly Crushes Boyaciyan's Set

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We just caught up with David Boyaciyan who told us a hand in which he watched his top set turn into dust against Timothy Reilly's flush.

Boyaciyan three-bet preflop and Reilly called after which the flop came down jack-high with two diamonds. The two players ended up all in and Boyaciyan turned over a set of jacks. Reilly had a king-high flush draw and he managed to hit that one to stay alive in the tournament.

Boyaciyan told us he lost with top set four times this week, but at least he's still alive in this event today.

Kuzmich Up There

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Paul Kuzmich just knocked out two players and Scott Baumstein explained to us what happened. Apparently Kuzmich had {A-}{K-} versus the short stack of Cliff Josephy holding {K-}{7-} and a third player's pocket queens.

The river brought Kuzmich a game-changing ace and he took down this huge pot.
