Glantz Gets River Value

Level 2 : 150/300, 25 ante

The board just showed {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} when Dario Sammartino was facing a raise from Matt Glantz. Apparently there was some confusion as to what action Sammartino had made, and this is what we saw.

Sammartino had bet 3,600 on the river and Glantz, from his immediate left, had raised it up to 10,800. Sammartino, according to the players at the table, had moved his hand, with chips, forward and eventually it was ruled he had to make the call.

"When moving your hand forward with chips in there you at least have to make the call as it's forward motion," the tournament director said. Not everyone agreed with this ruling, including Sammartino, but he was forced to make the call.

Glantz turned over {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and he took down the pot giving his stack a nice boost.

Juanda Folds To Smith's Shove

Level 2 : 150/300, 25 ante
John Juanda earlier this week

The board read {7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} when we arrived on the scene when the player on John Juanda's right was facing a raise. This player already had 1,200 out in front of him while Juanda put in 3,600. Elliot Smith was also involved and from the small blind he had also put 3,600 into the pot.

After a while the third player folded and the turn brought the {2-Spades}.

Smith checked the turn and Juanda bet 8,200. Smith went into the tank for a while before eventually moving all in for 23,100.

"Oh man," Juanda said quietly as he pondered making the call.

About 30 seconds later Juanda let go of his hand and Smith picked up this pot.

Full House for Lykov

Level 2 : 150/300, 25 ante

With a little under 10,000 in chips on the {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop, Mike Watson and Daniel Zack checked to to Team PokerStars Pro Maxim Lykov. The Russian bet 3,825, Watson called, and Zack folded.

After the {8-Clubs} hit the turn, both players checked to see the {4-Spades} land on the river. Watson checked, and Lykov fired a bet of 16,200. Watson tanked for a bit, then called.

Lykov quickly turned up the {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for a rivered full house, and Watson mucked his hand.

Queens for Mercier

Level 2 : 150/300, 25 ante

From the cutoff seat, Team PokerStars Pro and two-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner Jason Mercier raised to 600. Sylvain Loosli reraised on the button to 1,600, and Mercier called.

Mercier check-called a flop bet of 1,800 from Loosli, and then check-called 2,400 on the turn of the {K-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades} board. On the river, the {3-Diamonds} landed and both players checked. Mercier turned up the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}, and Loosli mucked his hand.
