Seat 1: Roger Sippl -- 3,255,000
Second in chips heading into Day 3 is Roger Sippl with 3,255,000. He's not a professional poker poker like the other six players at the table, but this businessman's ability to perform on the felt might be lost on many.
Sippl brings $1,827,448 in live tournament earnings to the mix, plus a win for $776,160 in the Aria $50,000 Super High Roller III. In fact, from his 12 live tournament cashes, Sippl has finished in the top five eight times and half of those 12 results have been in events with a buy-in of $25,000 or higher.
Sippl has been in the computer software industry for over 25 years, starting one of the first relational database companies back in 1980 and taking it public in 1986. He then cofounded another company doing customer-relationship management in 1990, which also went public in 1995. He overlapped that when he was chairman of another company while CEO of Pioneer Application Servers, which too went public. Sippl has also invested in other companies, but sold Elastic Intelligence to Intuit. Its product was the Connection Cloud, which allows users of Intuit quick piece to view all the data, all over the web as just one simple database.
"I’ve been playing since I was in my high chair," Sippl once told PokerNews about his involvement with poker. "My grandmother taught me how to play and would deal to me and used to hand out pennies to everyone but would win them back before dinner."
Sippl does not rank in the top 300 of the Global Poker Index.
Seat 2: Bryn Kenney -- 2,410,000
Bryn Kenney is one of the headliners for this final table and looking to continue his momentum from 2014 that saw him put up the best results in his live tournament career and win $1,281,367.
With $4,576,436 in live tournament earnings, three top-six finishes in super high roller events, and a World Series of Poker gold bracelet, Kenney has plenty of experience to work his way to a victory. When you combine that experience with an above-average chip stack and the momentum he brings stemming from a great December, Kenney just might be the second favorite behind Sorel Mizzi.
Just last month, Kenney scored over $650,000 thanks to two big results from Las Vegas. First, he took sixth in the World Poker Tour Alpha8 $100,000 event at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $323,730. Just two days later, he scored $343,000 in the Aria $50,000 Super High Roller VI. And, all of this success stems from a summer at the WSOP that saw Kenney earn his first gold bracelet and record two other final tables.
Kenney currently ranks No. 6 on the Global Poker Index and is the highest ranked GPI player remaining from this field.
Seat 3: Andrew Robl -- 1,370,000
Sitting sixth in chips is Andrew Robl — a man with $3,533,531 in live tournament earnings and a reputation as a tough opponent in the largest cash games the world has to offer.
Robl doesn't play many tournaments these days, but when he does he always seem to perform at his best, against the best. His last live tournament result was from the World Series of Poker last summer where he took seventh in the $5,000 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em event for $53,863. Prior to that, Robl won the 2013 Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge to the tune of AU$1,000,000.
With the money he's guaranteed here, Robl has secured at least the fourth-largest payday of his live poker career.
Robl doesn't rank in the top 300 on the Global Poker Index.
Seat 4: Sorel Mizzi -- 4,800,000
Here is the chip leader to enter Day 3, Canada's Sorel Mizzi. He'll bring 4,800,000 in chips to the final table, plus nearly $10,000,000 in live tournament earnings.
Already guaranteed no less than $313,700 from this final table, Mizzi will join the elite group of players with over $10,000,000 in live tournament earnings, as he was just over $50,000 short of that mark. His best result to date came from the 2013 GuangDong Asia Millions Main Event, where Mizzi placed third for $2,073,868.
At the 2013 EPT Grand Final €100,000 Super High Roller, Mizzi took third for €679,100, and then he finished runner-up in last year's Aussie Millions Main Event for AU$1,000,000. Needless to say, Mizzi has plenty of big buy-in experience under his belt. Combine that with the big chip lead he has entering Day 3, and you can count Mizzi as the clear favorite in the field.
On the Global Poker Index, Mizzi ranks as the No. 9 player in the world, and only Bryn Kenney from this final table, who ranks No. 6, is higher.
Seat 5: Christoph Vogelsang -- 1,540,000
Christoph Vogelsang hasn't had a high volume of success on the live tournament circuit, but the results he has put up have been quite impressive.
Vogelsang's first live score came in the 2013 EPT London £50,000 Super High Roller. In that event, he took third for £383,200. In April 2014, the German finished 25th in the EPT Grand Final Main Event for €36,700, and then he scored another third-place finish at the 2014 World Series of Poker. It was the latter of those that saw Vogelsang earn a whopping $4,480,001 after finishing behind Daniel Colman and Daniel Negreanu in the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop.
He will enter the final table fifth in chips with 1,540,000, but the high-stakes regular commonly known as "Tight-Man1" will provide a tough, calculated opponent for the others.
Vogelsang does not currently rank in the top 300 of the Global Poker Index.
Seat 6: Sam Greenwood -- 705,000
Sam Greenwood began Day 2 of this event as the chip leader, but he'll enter Day 3 as the shortest stack remaining with 705,000 in chips. Still, Greenwood has already guaranteed himself his largest live cash ever and first one above the six-figure barrier. In fact, Greenwood could more than double his total live tournament earnings of $482,876 if he's able to finish fifth or higher.
Greenwood is Canadian, and his best result on the live felt came from December of 2013 when he took second behind Vanessa Selbst in the €5,300 Pot-Limit Omaha Championships at EPT Prague for €72,300. Here at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, Greenwood has placed in the money in the $10,300 Main Event three times in his career, with his best result coming from 2012 when he took 15th for $58,000.
On the Global Poker Index, Greenwood ranks as the No. 295 players in the world.
Seat 7: Steve O'Dwyer -- 2,925,000
Steve O'Dwyer finished Day 2 third in chips, and is no stranger to big-tournament success. Champion of the 2013 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final Main Event after topping arguably the toughest final table in the history of no-limit hold'em events, O'Dwyer boasts live career tournament earnings of $7,268,625. Furthermore, he's scored seven live victories, made four EPT main event final tables, and pocketed a seven-figure payday twice.
A former resident of the United States, O'Dwyer now resides overseas in Europe where he can actively play online poker without restriction. This also allows him to regularly travel the European tournament circuit, in which he's found plenty of success throughout his career. Outside of Europe, O'Dwyer recently notched his largest live tournament by taking down the title in the 2014 Asia Championship of Poker Super High Roller. In that event held in November of last year, O'Dwyer scored a massive $1,811,638.
O'Dwyer currently sits No. 127 on the Global Poker Index, and he's already earned his best cash result from all of his tries at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
Sorel Mizzi Leads The $100,000 Super High Roller Final Table
Welcome to Day 3 of PokerNews' coverage of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $100,000 Super High Roller.
The starting field of 66 entries is down to just seven players, each looking to capture this coveted title and the first-place prize of $1,872,580. On top of the chip counts is Sorel Mizzi with 4.8 million, but a tough and talented final table stands between him and PCA glory.
The cards were scheduled to be in the air at 1 p.m. local time, but it appears the start of the final table has been delayed to about 1:30. Regardless, our coverage will run concurrently with the EPT Live stream, which begins an hour after the start of play.
