Eventually, Qu made the call with the

for Demers, which was good for a pair of eights, a flush draw, and a straight draw.
Despite all the outs he held, Demers missed when the 
hit the board on the river, and Qu won the pot.
"Tough call," Qu said to a friend watching the completion of the hand. "I thought he had queens or kings, or something. I can't fold there."
