Aces are Good for Ziskin

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

With about 140,000 already in the middle and the board reading {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades} Harrison Gimbel checked from the big blind and Alexander Ziskin, who was under the gun, bet 70,000. Gimbel called.

The {5-Diamonds} fell on the turn and Gimbel checked. Ziskin bet 160,000 and Gimbel called.

The river brought the {3-Spades} and Gimbel checked again. Ziskin slid 300,000 chips into the middle and Gibel went into the tank. After about a minute, he called, and Ziskin tabled {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}. Gimbel mucked and Ziskin took the pot.

Ryan Smith
Ryan Smith

Maria Konnikova raised to 50,000 from under the gun and Ryan Smith shoved for 380,000 from the hijack. Action folded back around to Konnikova and she quickly called to put Smith at risk.

Konnikova: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Smith: {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

Konnikova had the preflop advantage with the larger of the two pocket pairs and Smith needed a lot of help from the deck in order to double up. The board ran out {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} giving both players a set, but Konnikova's was best, so she took the pot to end Smith's deep run in this tournament.
