Kurganov Doubles Twice to Take the Lead

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Igor Kurganov was the last player to take a seat in this event and in the span of about 10 minutes, has taken the chip lead.

In the most recent hand, Kurganov and Jason Koon got into a preflop raise-war that ended with Koon all-in and at risk.

Koon: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Kurganov: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

A {5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} board fanned out and after a quick count to verify stacks, Kurganov had Koon slightly covered and sent the American to the rail.

According to the table chatter, moments before the hand Kurganov doubled up with pocket kings.

Kurganov gave his tablemates a little needle poking fun at the fact most of them had been grinding for five hours and have nowhere near the stack the Russian now wields.

Greenwood Doubles Through Mateos

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

A large pot was brewing between Sam Greenwood and Adrian Mateos when Greenwood moved all-in for a bit over 100,000 on the turn of a {j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} board. Mateos made the call putting Greenwood at risk.

Greenwood: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Mateos: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Greenwood was in great shape to score a big double and the {4-Clubs} on the river secured it.

Second Bullet Working for Seidel

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

After collecting his thoughts for a moment and returning to the table with a fresh stack, Erik Seidel immediately went on the offensive busting Lawrence Greenberg.

A few hands later, Seidel opened to 11,500 from late position only to see Chris Hunichen three-bet to 34,000 in the cutoff. Seidel took a moment before moving all-in and as time wound down, Hunichen sent his cards to the muck.

Koon Sends Seidel to the Rail

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Jason Koon
Jason Koon

Jason Koon opened to 8,000 from late position and called a three-bet jam of 43,000 from Erik Seidel on the button.

Seidel: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Koon: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Koon's flopped pair of queens sent Seidel to the rail. Seidel did immediately leave the tournament floor though he does have until the end of the break following the next level to re-enter.
