Cortes Springs the Check-Raise

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Jesús Cortes
Jesús Cortes

Jesus Cortes opened for 35,000 second to act and got two calls. The flop came {2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and action checked to Steve O'Dwyer in the cutoff, where a bet of 70,000 hit the felt. Jean-Noel Thorel made it 150,000 in the small blind and Cortes was undeterred by the heavy action as he jammed for about 850,000.

O'Dwyer mucked quickly but Thorel needed lots of time, four extensions worth. He eventually released.

O'Dwyer Gives Up

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Steve O'Dwyer defended big blind and then faced a large bet of 55,000 into about 60,000 from Jean-Noel Thorel, who raised second to act and bet the {6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. O'Dwyer woke up with a check-raise to 162,000 but Thorel was in there with a call. On the {8-Spades}, O'Dwyer checked and quickly folded to 175,000.

Nemeth Doubles Through Bonomo

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Andras Nemeth opened to 27,000 from middle position with {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and Justin Bonomo re-raised to 105,000 in the big blind with {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}. Nemeth four-bet shoved all in for 445,000 and Bonomo wasted little time before making the call.

The flop fell {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} to increase Bonomo's outs with a flush draw. However, the {j-Clubs} on the turn and the {k-Clubs} on the river missed him completely and Nemeth survived a sweat.
