Deroche Busts One, Shin Gets a Double

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

In the first of two hands, Peter Deroche opened to 8,000 and he was called from both blinds. On the {7-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop, after a check from the small blind, the big blind put out a bet of 3,000. Deroche shoved, and the small blind got out of the way.

The big blind called, but ended up dominated. He was playing ten-deuce for top pair, but Deroche's kicker was miles better with {a-}{10-}. {10-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} on the turn and river left Deroche with the best hand, and he sent his opponent to the rail.

In the very next hand, after a raise and a couple calls preflop, Michelle Shin went all in for 6,400, and she was called in two spots. The flop came {2-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{j-Hearts} and Deven Lane checked to the player on the button. He tossed in a bet of 8,000, and Lane got out of the way.

With the cards open, Shin's {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} was in rough shape to the {k-Diamonds}{q-} of her opponent. The turn {6-Spades} changed nothing, but Shin jumped out of her seat when the {10-Spades} hit the river.

"I'm so lucky," she said with a smile collecting her chips.

Meanwhile, in earlier action on the same table, Allen Alejandro busted from the tournament.
