At 2pm local time, poker enthusiasts from near and far in the Asia-Pacific region are expected to take a shot at the crown jewel of the 2022 Poker Dream Vietnam series. The VND 25,000,000 (~ $1,019) Main Event gets underway at the luxury five-star Hoiana Hotel complex near Hoi An on the Vietnamese coastline. It comes with a VND 10,000,000,000 guarantee (~ $407,000) guarantee and that number is likely to be surpassed as the second-ever stop of the new live poker series in Asia has seen busy numbers throughout the festival so far.

Three starting days in total are available on October 20 and 21, 2022. All players start with 30,000 in chips and 12 levels of 40 minutes each are scheduled for Day 1a and 1b, whereas the turbo heat 1c will play until reaching the combined average stack of all qualifiers in the previous two heats.

The late registration and re-entry period is open for the first nine levels until approximately 9.20 pm local time for both regular heats. There will be a break every three levels for those with a 50-minute dinner break at the end of level six.

Players can participate in multiple starting days and if they advance more than once, their larger chip tally will be carried over to Day 2, as of which the level duration increases to 50 minutes each. For the final day on October 23, 2022, the levels will last 60 minutes each until a winner has been crowned.

During the inaugural Poker Dream Malaysia 2022 stop at the Resorts World Genting in Kuala Lumpur back in July 2022, the Main Event gathered 654 entries and the prize pool reached nearly three times of the initial guarantee. Among the notable finalists back then were Eric Wasylenko, Wai Kiat Lee, and Danny Huynh. David Erquiaga finished runner-up to Malaysia's Joshua Tjan and has already been taking part in other events during the series here in Hoi An.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the tournament floor from start to finish for what shapes up to be an exciting next few days of live poker action in Asia.

Four ways to the {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, it checked to Dung Anh Trinh on the button and he bet 600. Only Zi Xuan Tan called in the hijack and check-called for another 1,200 on the {10-Spades} turn. The {q-Hearts} river was checked and Tan tabled the {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, which Trinh had beat holding the {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

Joining the action on the {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades} turn, Hoon Kim checked and then called a bet worth 2,500 by table neighbour Lich Van Vu. After the {q-Spades} river, Kim checked again and Vu bet 5,500. The call by Kim followed after a few seconds and he was shown the {k-Spades}{7-Clubs} for two pair, which beat his {k-Clubs}{8-Clubs} that he exposed briefly.
