The Day 1b field has already ballooned to 145 entries, surpassing the attendance of the previous flight, and some 135 players remain upon completion of level three. The first scheduled 15-minute break is underway and the late registration remains open for the next six levels and following dinner break.
Daniel Francis had quickly dropped to a short stack but he just earned more than a double to get right back into contention. The cards of his opponent were in the muck already while Francis' 10♥8♣ for flopped top pair on the 8♦5♠4♠7♥Q♣ board was good enough.
"I folded pocket sixes," Wonwook Jung mentioned in table chat.
"Oh my god, you got there on the river?" the opponent of Bryan Khoo gasped when they paid off a bet worth 6,000 on a completed board of A♣5♠4♥4♠6♠. Khoo's A♠10♠ had hit running spades for the nut flush and he then admitted "it was a crying call for me on the flop".
Lorelyn Estacion fired only one bet on a board of 9♣4♠2♦6♣2♣ before the turn and river were checked down by her and table neighbour Joseph Magnotti. Estacion announced a nine and flipped over the Q♦9♠, which was good enough to win the pot.
William Ysmael raised it up for the button and Richard "Hot Sauce" Marquez in the small blind to call.
The 3♥2♣2♦ flop was checked to Ysmael and he bet 800. Only Marquez check-called and did so again for 1,800 on the J♦ turn. The 5♥ fell on the river and Marquez checked a third street in a row. Ysmael now bet 4,500 and Marquez engaged in some table chat before he folded and flashed the 5♦ face-up.
On a turn of 9♠6♦4♥10♥, John Te bet 4,500 and Anton Del Rosario called, which led them to the 4♦ on the river. Del Rosario checked once more and Te now fired a bet of 9,500. That didn't deter Del Rosario, who stuck around with a call and was shown the A♠K♦ for a bluff.
Del Rosario claimed the pot with the 9♦8♥ and then virtually patted himself on the shoulders.
Picking up the action on the K♠8♥6♣ flop, John Costiniano checked his option out of the small blind and then faced a bet worth 800 by Sunwook Baek in the cutoff. The check-raise to 4,200 followed and Baek called.
That led them to the Q♣ turn on which Costiniano quickly bet 7,100. That represented nearly half of the stack of Baek, who pondered about it for a couple of seconds to then fold.
