Swings for Soyza

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Michael Soyza’s stack is moving up and down at a rapid pace at present and he has lost and won two decent sized pots recently. In the first Soyza opened the action from middle position with a raise to 110,000 with big blind Zhong Yuan Hang the only caller.

Hang checked the {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop over to Soyza, who c-bet the for 150,000. Hang made the call and it was off to the {9-Spades} turn. Now Hang chose to lead for close to the pot and Soyza made a quick fold and dropped down to roughly 550,000, while Hang climbed to 2.95 million.

Soyza folded the next few hands and was in the big blind when Weizhou Zha opened the action to 110,000 from middle position and both Liu Lifu (small blind) and Soyza made the call to take the action three-way to a flop of {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

All three players checked, bringing in the {7-Spades} turn. First to act, Lifu now led for 110,000 and the action was on Soyza, who thought it over for a but before moving all-in for exactly 500,000.

This brought quick folds from Zha and Lifu and the Malaysian is now back up to where he started with around 950,000.

Li Extends Lead

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Zhong Yuan Hang opened the action from middle position with a raise to 130,000 and Longyun Li (button) and Weizhou Zha (big blind) both called to take the action three-way to a flop of {7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}.

Zhou checked the action over to Hang who was seemingly undeterred at getting called in two spots and c-bet 150,000. However, this did not have the desired effect of thinning the field and both Li and Zha called once more and the {7-Clubs} came in on the turn.

Zha checked again and Hang slowed down this time and checked it back, only to see Li fired for 350,000. While Zha folded quickly Hang chewed over the decision and did not look happy about this at all. Eventually, though, Hang did let it go and dropped to 2.5 million while Li climbed to 5,15 million.

Double for Burns

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Linh Tran opened the button with a raise, but before we had time to see how much for short stack Simon Burns moved all-in for 515,000 and Tran called instantly.

Simon Burns: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Linh Tran: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}

Burns was the at-risk player, but held the best hand and the board came a low and raggedy {5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Spades} to grant the UK player the double and he climbed to just over 1 million in chips while Tran dropped to 1.3 million.

Jacks Good For Zha

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

With Simon Burns doubling up Weizhou Zha found himself as the short stack and needed to find a spot to double with the blinds fast approaching. Sitting under-the-gun Zha moved his last 470,000 into the middle and was called immediately by Huang Qien.

Weizhou Zha: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Huang Qien: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Zha was on his feet calling for the jack and the poker gods obliged, with the dealer spreading the {4-Clubs}{j-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop to give him top set. The {5-Spades} turn locked in the double up and Zha climbed to 1.03 million while Huang dropped to 1.4 million.

Hang Runner, Runner’s Soyza

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Michael Soyza opened the action with a raise to 135,000 from middle position with Zhong Yuan Hang the only caller in the big blind.

Hang checked the {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop over to Soyza, who checked it back and the {10-Diamonds} hit the turn, bringing in a second check from Hang. Now Soyza reached for chips and led for 120,000 and after thinking it over for a few seconds Hang tossed in the call and it was off to the {q-Spades} river.

This brought another check from Hang and Soyza’s spider-senses must have been tingling as he checked behind and a disappointed Hang turned over {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a backdoor two pair.

Soyza shot him a cheeky grin and flashed {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} before throwing his cards into the muck.
