Day 1a Started
Things are just warming up here as the Poker King Cup Macau 2018 tournament series enters its second day. There are still four more action-packed events left to play out at the poker tables of the Poker King Club at Venetian Macau Resort & Hotel over the five remaining days of the series, with Day 1a of the HKD 16,500 Main Event kicking off at 1pm local time (GMT+7).
The previous Poker King Cup Macau, which ran in May 2017, saw China’s Longyun Li defeat a 490-strong field to earn himself an HKD 1,101,000 ($141,282) payday, with a total of 63 players cashing for a share of the HKD 7,129,500 ($915,918) prize pool. A sizable field is also expected this time around.
Players kick off the action with a 30,000 stack during the three opening flights running Sept. 21-22. The first two flights feature 40-minute blind levels while the final Turbo opening flight features 30-minute blind levels.
Players will have plenty of chances to build a big stack in the Main Event with all three opening flights allowing for unlimited reentries. The final three days of the tournament will also feature a deeper structure with 60-minute blind levels.
There are eleven 40-minute levels scheduled for all Day 1’s, including a 60-minute dinner break at the end of level 8 (around 6.30pm for Day 1a) with play expected to conclude at around 10pm.

There have been more new arrival to bring the total number of PKC Day 1a Main Event entries up to 80, which caps out the tournament tables at this time. That means alternates are now in play and several players are now waiting in the wings for a seat to open up.
One of the new arrivals is Italy's Mauro Francolini, who is a familiar face at poker tables here in Macau. We caught the Italian embroiled in a pot against a tablemate, but the action disappointingly fizzled out.
There was close to 1,500 in the pot, with the flop spread ![]()

with Francolini (button) firing out a bet of 600 when his opponent, sitting in the hijack, checked the action over before sliding out the call.
The
turn saw no betting, nor did the
river, which brought four to a straight. Francolini could only muck when his opponent rolled over ![]()
for the rivered straight, dropping down to around 27,000 while his opponent raked in the pot.

An interesting hand played out between Belgium's Bart Luyckx and China's Dai Li that we caught the tail end of, with Lyckx kind enough to fill us in on the details after the fact.
It was Luyckx the man driving the action with a preflop raise to 450 with Li the only caller. The flop was of the rainbow variety, falling ![]()

, with Luyckx continuation betting close to half-pot.
Li made the call to keep the pair in action and the board paired when another
hit the turn. This saw Luyckx fire again for another half-pot sized bet, with Li again making the call.
The river was a

and was rather surprised to see Li roll over ![]()
for a rivered boat to take the pot.
