Lee Takes Out Yau, Luyckx Surfing the Short Stack

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Preston Lee
Preston Lee

Hong Kong's Winson Yau came into Day 2 as one of the larger stacks with 185,000 but these chips have all been frittered away over the last four levels. The man who got the majority of them is none other than World Series bracelet winner Preston Lee.

Lee was the initial aggressor, opening to 6,500 from middle position, with Yau three-betting to 20,000 on the button. Lee did not take long to shove and Yau tossed in a single blue 5k chip to represent the call and put himself at risk for his last 70,000 or so.

Preston Lee: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Winson Yau: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

While Yau had a hand, Lee's was better and there was no ace or jack to be seen on the {5-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} run out, meaning Lee's full house was enough to bust Yau and stack up to 160,000.

Belgium's Bart Luyckx is on the other end of the chip spectrum but is holding onto his tournament life with a firm grip and managed to spin his three big blind stack up to close to what he began the day with.

Following some early action, Luyckx got his last three big blinds in from the button with nine-deuce, beating two players holding ace-king and ace-queen respectively after pairing his deuce and is sitting on a stack of 31,000 presently.

Yan Eliminates One

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Pei Yan raised to 7,000 from the hijack and the player on the button shoved for 37,500 in total. The blinds folded and Yan asked for a count. The dealer confirmed the amount and Yan called.

Button: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Pei Yan: {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{k-Hearts} to not provide any danger to Yan as he took out his opponent.

Lin Zhe Chen Takes Out Yu Zhang, Hsuan Chao Chen and Luyckx Depart

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Lin Zhe Chen
Lin Zhe Chen

We came running after a piercing scream rang out to discover Lin Zhe Chen and Yu Zhang embroiled in a big pot, with Chen hitting the river to bring Zhang's tournament to a close.

With {k-}{k-} face up on the felt in front of him, Zhang looked pretty unimpressed at the {5-Spades}{10-Hearts}{q-Spades}{7-Hearts}{j-Hearts} run out as it had given Chen, holding {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} the Broadway straight. Chen celebrated happily, while a not so happy Zhang headed for the rail.

Timothy Yim is continuing to grow his stack, railing the unfortunate Hsuan Chao Chen with the two getting all the chips in pre-flop, Yim's {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} winning a race against the {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} of Chen, who headed for the exit while Yim stacked up to 230,000.

Pocket tens did not fare as well for Bart Luyckx, who was kind enough to pop by the media desk and give us his elimination tale. Luyckx got his last 19 big blinds in with {10-}{10-} from the button over the top of a Pei Yan open raise, with the Chinese player making the call with {k-}{j-}.

Unfortunately for Luyckx, the runout favored the man with overcards, coming {q-Hearts}{7-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} to give Yan the straight on the river and stack him up to 135,000 while Luyckx is out.

Sze Shoves and Gets a Fold

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The board read {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{Q-Spades} with about 80,000 in the middle already. Chi Fu Sze shoved for 118,500 in total from the big blind and his opponent in mid-position tanked. After about four minutes, another player at the table called the clock on him. The floor came over and gave him 30 seconds.

A 20-second warning and a 10-second warning were given. The floor started counting down from five and then declared the hand dead. The dealer pushed the pot to Sze and while he was stacking up his chips, the rest of the table relentlessly questioned him about the hand he held but Sze stayed vague about what he had.
