Aces for Andrews

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante
Ben Andrews
Ben Andrews

While Ben Andrews came in with a stack of 120,000 or so at the start of the level, the Brit had endured a torrid time of it at the tables and had dropped down to 40,400. However, it appears that Andrew's may have turned the tides of fortune, though the halt of his slump came at the expense of Germany's Max Menzel.

It was Justin Chu who instigated the action with an open to 4,500 from middle position, with Menzel making the call from one seat over in the cutoff. Action folded around to Andrews, who jammed on the button and action was back on Chu, who tanked for close to 30-seconds before deciding to let it go.

Menzel however, seemed on the fence and flip-flopped between folding and calling, eventually deciding on the latter and both players flipped over their hands.

Max Menzel: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Ben Andrews: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

Andrews had found the pocket rockets at the perfect time and Menzel could only shake his head sadly as the {7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{q-Spades} runout saw the pot shipped the Brit's way.

James Chen has become one of the early casualties, unable to get anything going with his short-stack, with the field down to 90 players.

Erquiaga Gets Chiu

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante
David Erquiaga
David Erquiaga

Ray Chiu has become one of the most recent eliminations, giving us his exit hand straight from the horse's mouth. It was Chiu who was the instigator, making it 5,000 to go from the cutoff with the Philippines David Erquiaga three-betting to 18,000 from the small blind.

Action folded back to Chiu who four-bet to 35,500 and Erquiaga made the call to swell the pot to 75,000. The {q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop saw checks from both players, with Erquiaga taking a stab for 25,000 on the {10-Spades} turn, which Chiu called.

The {4-Hearts} river was the spark that ignited the action, pairing the board and completing a possible heart flush, and Erquiaga jammed. Chiu eventually made the call with {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, and was stunned to discover that Erquiaga had been getting frisky preflop with {10-}{4-} and backed into the boat, which was good for a huge pot. Erquiaga climbs to 244,500 while Chiu hit the rail.

Wu Sets Up Chen

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante
Hao Kai Wu
Hao Kai Wu

Chia Ming Chen's tournament has come to a close, with Hao Kai Wu the closer after the two battled in a big pot. It was Chen who was the initial raiser, making it 6,000 to go preflop, with Wu calling in position to take play heads-up to a flop of {3-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}.

Chen continuation bet the flop for another 6,000, with Wu making the call once more to bring the pair to the {10-Diamonds} turn, which is where the fireworks went off. Chen fired a second barrel, this time for 27,000, Wu re-raised to 55,000, Chen shoved and was quickly called.

Chia Ming Chen: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Hao Kai Wu: {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

Wu's flopped set of threes left Chen drawing extremely thin, and the {q-Spades} river was not the paint card he needed to survive. Chen headed for the exit and Wu stacked up to 205,000.

Huang and Lin Bust

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante

Both Fu Bang Huang and I-Cheng Lin have become two of the more recent casualties, with Lin departing at the hands of Hong Kong's Tsz Fai Tong with the pair getting all the chips in pre-flop.

I-Cheng Lin: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Tsz Fai Tong: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Both players spiked an ace on the flop, and while Lin was in front with the better kicker, Tong spiked a jack on the river to make two pair and send Lin crashing out of the tournament.

Table Move Works Out For Gerard

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante

The field has thinned significantly, with 36 players all hitting the showers early, so there has been some player shuffling. One of the more recent table move saw Edwin Gerard take his place over on table 20, just in time to win a nice pot.

Gerard came in for his first hand at his new table from the big blind, defending against a Hsin Hui Peng open for 5,500. Peng continuation bet the {5-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop after a Gerard check, only to see the US player pull out a check-raise, which after some contemplation Peng called.

The {5-Spades} turn saw Gerard jam for an effective 52,200 as this was all that Peng had behind, and the latter eventually decided to let it go.

Gruendemann Doubles Through Shin

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante

For a while there, it looked as though Mark Gruendemann was on the ropes, dropping down to 45,000 from the 86,000 he began the day with. However, Mr. Gruendemann's luck has done a sharp U-turn and he has doubled up through South Korea's Jae Wook Shin.

It was Justin Chu who was the initial aggressor, making it 5,200 from middle position, with Gruendemann moving all in for the last of his chips. Jae Wook Shin made the call from the blinds, and Chu took the hint and bowed out.

Jae Wook Shin: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Mark Gruendemann: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

It was left to a good old fashioned race to decide Gruendemann's fate, and the poker gods were in a magnanimous mood with the {k-Spades}{j-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Spades}{x-} runout giving the Irishman a flush and a double to 113,000, while Shin dropped down to 145,000.

Wong Falls to Wee

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Carson Wong's tournament has come to an end, with the Hong Kong player falling at the hands of Lee Kuan Wee. Wong was short-stacked, moving the last of his chips in preflop from mid-position with Wee looking him up from the blinds.

Carson Wong: {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Lee Kuan Wee: {a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

Both players missed the {4-Spades}{j-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop, with Wong improving to second pair on the {10-Spades} turn, before disaster struck on the {9-Diamonds} river, with Lee making a straight to send Wong to the rail and stack Wee up to 240,000.
