Play Slows Down

Unlike the insane start we had this afternoon on table 29, the remaining three tables continue on a slow, steady path.

The banter amongst players has also died down as they all focus on getting their team over the line. Crown Director of Tournament Operations Jonno Pittock has seized this opportunity to keep a closer eye on the action, taking an empty seat on table 31!

Steve Leonard Interview

Yesterday Lynn Gilmartin managed to catch up with the Online Team captain, Steve Leonard, to chat about the PokerNetwork.com Challenge. Steve was quietly confident about the success of his team, and his confidence was justified as they had a strong day on the felt with Leonard himself finishing second in yesterday's heads-up event.

Top Set Will Do For Pearson

The action folded around to Bruno Portaro who limped before Matthew Pearson made it 700 to go from the big blind. Portaro made the call and they saw a flop of {K-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}.

Both players checked and took the free card on the turn which was the {4-Hearts}. Portaro fired out 500 before Pearson made it 2,600 to go. Portaro then announced he was all in with Pearson snap-calling.

Portaro: {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Pearson: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

The river was the {9-Clubs} to double Pearson up to 15,000, although it wasn't enough to impress Dave Lee, who with tongue firmly in cheek, scoffed, "Meh...online kids...can't fold kings there?"

Hachem Cut Down

Hachem: hit hard
Hachem: hit hard
Matt Hawker, Ben Savage, Tony Hachem and Joel Dodds all limped in to see a flop of {8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}.

Dodds checked from the small blind, Hawker checked from the big blind, Savage checked from under the gun and Hachem fired out 800. The action folded around to Savage who made the call.

Savage would then check-raise all in for 5,900 after Hachem's 1,500 bet on the turn of the {7-Diamonds}. Hachem called and tabled {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a straight and flush draw; Savage held {6-Spades}{5-Spades} for an open-ender but had the lead.

Savage took the pot down after the river bricked out {K-Hearts}. Hachem is steaming and is looking in bad shape with 4,000 left in his stack while Savage is back up to 14,000 in chips.

StevoL Doubles Through

Leonard: puts Portaro on a plunge
Leonard: puts Portaro on a plunge
Steve 'stevoL' Leonard has doubled up to 11,000 through Bruno Portaro after a recent hand on table 30.

Leonard made it 600 to go from early position. Dave Lee called from the small blind, Portaro called from the big blind and it was three-way action on a flop of {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}.

The blinds checked to Leonard who opened for 1,050. Lee folded, Portaro raised all in and Leonard made the call.

Leonard: {A-Spades}{8-Spades}
Portaro: {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

Looking for a four or deuce, the turn and river bricked out {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs} to send Portaro down to just 7,000 in chips - which is a far cry from the 30,000 he had several hands ago.
