Daylight Savings Brings An Early Start To Day 2

Welcome back to the Crown Poker Room for our continued coverage of the 2009 PokerNews Cup Main Event. We have 132 players returning today with a long day ahead of us to reach a final table of nine players.

Overnight, daylight savings has kicked in here in Australia so the line is already being set on how many players will rock up late this morning. Already looking around the room, and the lack of dealers and chip bags out, we suspect we might be in for a delayed start time.

Stay tuned to PokerNews.com for all of the live updates from the tournament floor.

"Ozzie The Turk" Eliminated

Ozzie Yildiz had a rough end to the day last night and didn't particularly want to return today as a short stack. He had shoved the last four hands in the dark last night, but received no callers and found himself having to come back today with a meager 10,600 in chips.

His adventures today lasted all of one hand as he pushed all in preflop with pocket threes and the big blind woke up with pocket kings. The board bricked out and Yildiz was sent home early.

Chevalier Busts

Another short stack has failed to double up as Danny Chevalier has joined the rail. Stephen Donlon opened to 5,000 before Chevalier moved all in. Donlon made the call.

Donlon: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Chevalier: {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

The board ran out {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Donlon's pair holds to eliminate Chevalier from the tournament.

Some Stellar Table Draws

With so many big names coming in for Day 2 of the PokerNews Cup Main Event, it's of no surprise that there have been some stellar lineups that have formed around the tables in the Crown Poker Room.

Jie Gao, Trung Tran, Billy Seri and Karl Krautschneider are sharing space on feature table 31, while Chris Chronis is on table 29 with Bruce Nguyen, Todor Kondevski, Steve Bouya and Nick Haidaris.

Table 32 will also be a challenge for any newcomers with Emad Tahtouh, Julian Powell and current overall chipleader Jonathan 'xMONSTERxDONGx' Karamalikis.

However there are sure to be some fireworks coming from table 50, which features Michael 'TheBigSiCko' Guzzardi, Joe Cabret, Scott Kerr, Angela Connell and Sammy Khouiss!

Big Show Busto

Topakas: eliminated
Topakas: eliminated
All the money went into the middle on a flop reading {7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} between Minh Nguyen who held {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} against Stephen Topakas' {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

'The Big Show' would be shown the door as the turn landed the {8-Spades} and river bricked out with the {6-Spades}.

Nguyen moves up to 60,000 after that hand.

Railbird Etiquette 101

A couple of well-watered spectators came by feature table 31 and proceeded to talk loudly and joke around, much to the amusement of Billy Seri and Karl Krautschneider.

The other players looked over and were none too pleased with the disruption, so the dealer sternly hushed them and they quickly departed for another round at the Vegas Bar.

The golden rule for railbirds? Be quiet!
