PokerNews Cup
PokerNews Cup

Welcome to the final two opening flights of the PokerNews Cup Main Event at Finix Casino. The action for Day 1c kicks off at 1 p.m. EEST followed by the turbo-charged Day 1d six hours later at 7 p.m. EEST.

Players will be competing for at least a share of €100,000 guaranteed for a €550 buy-in or less if they qualified online or through one of the many €60 live satellites running at Finix Casino. One of the players that qualified via a live satellite is PokerNews Global Live Reporting Manager Yori Epskamp from the Netherlands.

There will be plenty of opportunities for players to build a monster stack starting off with 50,000 in chips and unlimited reentries permitted during each of the four opening flights on May 15-17. The first three flights, including today's Day 1c, feature 30-minute blind levels. The final Day 1d flight will be fast-paced with 15-minute blind levels.

The action for each opening flight continues until just 15 percent of the field remains, at which time all players will already be in the money. Players that successfully bag chips on Day 1 will battle it out in a deeper structure of 40-minute blind levels on May 18-19 until is crowned.

Here is a look at today's structure with breaks taking place after every four blind levels.

PokerNews Cup Kulata
PokerNews Cup Kulata

Marcel Galustov bet 12,000 into a pot of more than twice as much with the {j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} on the board. Toni Statev called, Efstathios Mathanailidis folded, and Georgios Gkampintasvili called.

Marcel Galustov turned over {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for the second nut flush. Both the other players also had flushes with Statev showing {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Gkampintasvili showing {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} but Galustov's was the strongest to take down a big pot early in the day.

Huge Hero Call by Epskamp

Level 4 : 150/300, 300 ante
Yori Epskamp
Yori Epskamp

Great start for PokerNews Global Live Reporting Manager Yori Epskamp.

A player opened to 500. Another player called and Dimitrios Milidis also called from the button. Epskamp three-bet to 3,500 from the small blind and Milidis was the only player to find a call.

Epskamp led out for 4,200 after the {7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{10-Diamonds} flop. Milidis counted out some chips before he raised to 12,000. Epskamp gave a huge staredown to Milidis before he called.

Both players checked after the {9-Hearts} came on the turn. Milidis then jammed for about 30,000 after the {10-Spades} paired the board on the river.

Epskamp gave Milidis another staredown before he called. Milidis tossed his hand in the muck before Epskamp showed the huge hero call with just ace-high holding {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}.

After the hand, Milidis immediately reentered the tournament.

A player opened for 1,100. Nikolaos Liavas three-bet from the button to 3,100 before he called a four-bet from Koutoupas from the small blind to 8,100.

Koutoupas bet 6,500 after the {5-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{j-Clubs} came on the flop. Liavas raised to 14,000. Koutoupas three-bet jammed for more than 40,000 and got a call.

Sotirios Koutoupas: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Nikolaos Liavas {a-Clubs}{k-}

It was a flip on the flop but Koutoupas was drawing dead after the {10-Clubs} came on the turn to give his opponent a flush. A blank hit the river and Koutoupas headed to the tournament desk to reenter.

Meanwhile, after a short break, Marcel Galustov got back into the action.

Ivaylo Yordanov
Ivaylo Yordanov

Dimitrios Gkikoulis bet 10,200 into a pot of a bit more with the {4-Hearts}{10-Spades}{10-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} on the board and got a call from Ivaylo Yordanov.

The action was checked to Yordanov after the {k-Diamonds} completed the board on the river and he jammed for 25,000. Gkikoulis tanked for a minute before he called.

Yordanov turned over {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} for the full house and asked to see his opponent's hand which he was entitled to since it was an all-in and call situation. Gkikoulis showed the table when asked that he had {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for the rivered straight.

Around the same time Georgios Efthymiadis, who was in both Day 1a and Day 1b, reentered the tournament for the second time on Day 1c. Also joining the action is Hristo Bogdanov for his third bullet of the tournament and his first one today.

Stryvakis Doubles

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Polykarpos Stryvakis
Polykarpos Stryvakis

Georgi Draginov opened to 2,000 and got three players to call including Polykarpos Stryvakis before Sotirios Koutoupas three-bet to 6,300. Three players called before the player in the small blind folded.

"It is my job to make this mess," said Koutoupas before the flop was dealt. "It was a quiet table before I got here."

Koutoupas and Georgi Draginov checked after the {q-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Clubs} came on the flop. Stryvakis jammed all-in for about 22,000. It folded around to Draginov who made the call.

Georgi Draginov turned over {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for top pair while Stryvakis showed {a-Spades}{4-Hearts} for an overcard, a nut-flush draw, and a gut-shot straight draw. Draginov was drawing dead after the {6-Spades} came on the turn. The {j-Hearts} completed the board on the river and Stryvakis found himself a double-up.

Meanwhile, on another table, Marcel Galustov was eliminated for the second time today and has yet to reenter.

Dimitrios Gkikoulis
Dimitrios Gkikoulis

Just before the break, Dimitrios Gkikoulis opened for 1,300 before Konstantinos Nanos three-bet to 3,600. Gkikoulis four-bet to 8,200 before he called a five-bet to 14,900 from Nanos.

Nanos bet 5,900 after the {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{9-Hearts} came on the flop and Gkikoulos raised to 13,200. Nanos shoved more than covering the 36,100 his opponent had behind and got a call.

Gkikoulis turned over {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a straight flush and was a lock to double up with Nanos drawing dead with {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. The {k-Hearts} came on the turn followed by the {j-Clubs} on the river to give Gkikoulis a double-up.
