Charlie Carrel Makes It Look Easy While Knowing It's Not

Level 5 : 250/500, 75 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

Charlie Carrel's runner-up finish in the $100,000 Super High Roller a few days ago continues a high roller hot streak for the young British pro. He's made eight final tables in tournaments with "high roller" in the title over the last 12 months, finishing in the top three no less than seven times to earn more than $3 million.

But Carrel knows full well recent tournament success doesn't guarantee anything about the next one, as he explains to the PokerStars Blog.

Assorted Chip Counts at the Break

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

Here are most of the chip counts at the second break, with Nacho Barbero the player to catch.

PokerStars Team Pro Daniel Negreanu has entered the field and has seemingly bet triple Superbowl-winning footballer Richard Seymour that he will outweigh Seymour by the end of the year.

Fancy knowing more about this prop bet madness? PokerNews presenter Sarah Herring spoke to Richard Seymour ahead of him entering the $25,000 High Roller field.

Barbero Takes Out SirWatts to Grab the Crown

Nacho Barbero (pictured) won the final hand of the level as Mike Watson moved all-in with {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Barbero called it off with {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}.

The board of {2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} gave Barbero the pot and the chip lead in the tournament, while Watson has the break to contemplate a re-entry.

Elky Gets Gomez

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

We joined the action with Elky betting 2,000 on a flop of {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Javier Gomez raised to 10,000 and Elky called. The turn of {10-Diamonds} saw Gomez ship it in for a further 29,925 and Elky made the call.

While Gomez had the up and down straight flush draw with {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, Elky had {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}. He needed to fade a lot of outs, but did so across the {q-Spades} river and he is up to 115,000 - the lead in the tournament with the break almost upon us.

We saw Charlie Carrel getting out his seat, and by the time we made our way over the dealer was sliding his chips to Andjelko Andrejevic.

Unfortunately we missed the action play out, so all we know is Carrel fell holding the {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts} on a {j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{a-Spades} board to Andrejevic, who held a bigger two pair with the {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. Carrel headed straight to the registration desk to re-enter.

Meawhile, both David Laka Calzada and Orpen Kisacikoglu have re-entered the tournament.
