Chip Lead Race

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

At this stage, three players have widened the gap between themselves and everyone else in the race for the chip lead. George Wolff is still in front, but Imad Derwiche and Dominykas Karmazinas have closed the gap. Derwiche is at Wolff's table, albeit across from him, but any fireworks between those two would likely go a long way to determining the leader at day's end.

Derwiche has been on fire since reentering. He just raked in a pot after Anthony Zinno limped early and Bogdan Capitan made it 18,000. Derwiche called, as did Zinno. Derwiche led into both opponents for 40,000 on the {4-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Spades} flop and got two fairly quick folds.

Ramos' Surge Short-Lived

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Felipe Ramos was down to 7,500 after presumably losing a pot to Daniel Geeng, who was now around 200,000 and opened to 10,000 in middle position. Sylvain Loosli made it 36,000 to go, and Ramos put his last crumbs in. Geeng called the three-bet and the flop came {5-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}. Geeng check-folded to a small bet.

Loosli: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Ramos: {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

Ramos had not looked and was disappointed to see he didn't have much of a sweat. He did pick up a tiny amount of equity on the {2-Clubs} turn but the {5-Diamonds} river made Loosli aces full.

Three sizable hands just went down, one at each table.

Table 1

We didn't see exactly what happened, but Vladimir Troyanovskiy busted out to an opponent who ran the nut straight with a rundown.

Table 2

After a {k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop, George Wolff got it in there with {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and had Bogdan Capitan at risk. Capitan had {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for a gutter and nut flush draw. The {3-Clubs} was a brick but the river was a {10-Diamonds}. Wolff sighed and sent Capitan 89,000.

Table 3

A large pot had developed between Sam Greenwood in the blinds and Sylvain Loosli in late position. Greenwood bet 35,000 on the end with the board reading {9-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades}. Loosli made it 100,000, and Greenwood went deep into the tank, sighing and talking to himself. While the Wolff/Capitan hand went down, Greenwood must have called and lost, because the next time we looked over, he was left with just over 80,000.

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Francesco Grande just got his stack in with a gutter, flush draw, and a pair against the superior flush draw, pair, and gutter of George Wolff. Both players turned flushes to give Wolff the pot.

Derwiche Finally Dented; Greenwood Finished

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Imad Derwiche defended his big blind from a Minh Phuc Nguyen button open and then checked a {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop. Nguyen bet 6,500 and Derwiche slid 20,000 in. Nguyen called. On the {j-Spades} turn, he called another 25,000, then both checked the {a-Spades}.

"You win," Derwiche announced.

Nguyen tabled {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for kings full on the flop.

At the same table, Sam Greenwood's seat is empty.
