Yazbeck Eliminates Stoian in Stunning Fashion

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Ion Stoian
Ion Stoian

On a {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Spades} flop, there was around 20,000 in the pot with action on Ion Stoian. He looked at his left-hand neighbor, Cristinel Dumitru, who had around 35,000 behind, and shoved all in. Dumitru gave it some thought, then folded his hand.

Done, right?

Well, not exactly. As the late Billy Mays would say: "But wait, there's more!"

You see, Georges Yazbeck was also active in the hand, which presumably had escaped Stoian's attention. And Yazbeck, mind you, was the only guy at the table that covered Stoian's impressive stack of 170,000.

With action on Yazbeck, the Lebanese dentist picked up a tower of T-5,000 chips and slammed them in the middle.

Ion Stoian: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Georges Yazbeck: {K-Spades}{4-Spades}

Stoian moved his hands to his head and started to mutter in Romanian. Now, our knowledge of the Romanian language is unfortunately not up to speed but it appeared Stoian had totally missed out on Yazbeck. Just like that, his tournament life hung in the balance.

"No spade!" yelled Yazbeck, while Stoian kept muttering with both hands on his head.

The {J-Hearts} on the turn wasn't a spade, and neither was the {7-Hearts} on the river. A bewildered Stoian headed for the rail, while Yazbeck scooped up the gigantic 400,000 pot and claimed a massive chip lead.

With the eliminations of Shabtai Koren, Adrian Eugen Constantin, and Cristinel Dumitru in rapid succession, the field is down to 16 players. A redraw for the final two tables will be made.

Bubble Bursts; Portiansky and Koko Chop 15th Place

On Table 2, Eduard Norel raised to 11,000 from middle position and Alin Pandilica called from the small blind. Daniel Portiansky three-bet shoved 108,500 from the big blind, Norel folded, and Pandilica called after thinking for two minutes.

The cards remained closed as action was still going on Table 1. Chipleader Dawid Borkowski had raised and Roi Koko had three-bet to 26,000 behind him. Back on Borkowski, he simply shoved, putting Koko to the test for his entire stack of almost 200,000.

Koko through for nearly five minutes, deep in thought, presumably not realizing that Portiansky was all in at the other table. Eventually, Koko slid in a call, and their hand was the first to go to showdown.

Dawid Borkowski: {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Roi Koko: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}

The Israeli rail cheered for their countryman, while Koko stood up and moved to one of his friends at the rail. He turned his gaze away from the table as the dealer slowly fanned out a {Q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts} board.

The four on the river completed Borkowski's straight and drew gasps from the rail. Koko turned his head to the table to see his fate, then left with a shocked look on his face

However, the Israeli could still chop 15th place prize money as Portiansky was all in at the other table. The hands there were as follows:

Daniel Portiansky: {J-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Alin Pandilica: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}

Portiansky was caught stealing and had to bow out after a {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}{7-Spades} board. Per PokerStars LIVE rules, both players chopped up 15th place prize money due to being at different tables.
