Big Setback for Banerji

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Below are some assorted chip counts. Shantanu Banerji suffered a big setback when trying to bluff table neighbor Victor Choupeaux. Both players confirmed what happened. Banerji raised to 4,000 and was called before the flop fell {9-}{4-}{3-} with two hearts. The continuation bet of 4,600 was called before Banerji then check-raised the {4-Spades} turn from 8,600 to 20,000.

Choupeaux called and also called a bet worth 35,000 on the {8-} turn, Banerji mucked.

Mitchell Bursts into the Lead

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

If there was any doubt about the chip leader, James Mitchell has just shattered that.

Word on the street is that Attila Farkas raised to 5,000 and Mitchell just called. A short stack shoved for 10,000 and Farkas reshoved for 170,000 with {A-}{3-} and ran right into the pocket aces of Mitchell.

Late Chat With Kassouf

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Pavlos Benakis opened for 4,500 and William Kassouf defended his big blind.

The flop was {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}.

“Good flop for my hand,” said Kasouf and checked. “Ace high no good,”

Benakis bet 6,500. “What do you want me to do?” Kassouf asked before calling.
The turn card was the {q-Hearts} and both players checked. “Ah, slowing down?” was the comment this time.

The river was the {4-Clubs} and they both checked. Benakis had {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} but Kassouf had it with {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}.

Kassouf Gets Into O'Brien's Head

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Alexandra O'Brien lost the vast majority of her stack after running into the famous speech play of William Kassouf on a board of {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{4-Hearts} holding {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}. The action went on for all streets and Kassouf shoved the river, which O'Brien eventually called only to get shown {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for the nut flush by Kassouf.

That was in the second-last hand, and O'Brien lost her remaining 25,000 next to bust at the very end of Day 1c. Kassouf on the other hand bagged well above average and will be back tomorrow for Day 2.
