Chocolate Or Chips?

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

There was an open to 35,000 and a call from David Kahan before Rehman Kassam moved all in for 314,000. The original raiser folded and Kahan had a long think, counting down his stack to aid in his final decision.

“I’ve got a bus to get so I just go all in.” Kassam told him.

“You want me to call? I have a good hand.” was the response.

“Tell you what, if you bust me you can buy me a chocolate bar for the journey home.” Kassam continued.

A short time later Kahan called.

Kassam showed {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and Kahan {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

The board ran out {2-Spades}{k-Spades}{2-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades}. No chocolate for Kassam and that bus just left the station.

Perrins Hits the River

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Short stack Matt Perrins shoved for his last 120,000 and the action folded all the way around to Naoufel Bennani-Smires in the small blind, who called.

Perrins showed the {K-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Bennani-Smires had {A-Spades}{10-Spades}. Neither the {6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop nor the {7-Clubs} turn changed anything. But the {K-Hearts} fell on the river and that gave Perrins a pair of kings.

Boyko Binks a Sweet Double

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Christopher Day raised to 35,000 and Guillem Cusco Bach as well as one further player called. In the big blind, Yuriy Boyko then made it 122,000 to go from the big blind and Day moved all in. Cusco Bach and the other player folded and Boyko tank-called for his tournament life.

Yuriy Boyko: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Christopher Day: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

The {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop gave Day top pair, but the {10-Clubs} on the turn restored the preflop order. Boyko needed to avoid a queen, and he did so after a blank {4-Hearts} river. The double of the Irishman was for 397,000 while Day dropped to less than that.

Lopes and Daly are Done

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

While the elimination of Idalino Lopes is unknown, the exit of Sean Daly was somewhat painful. Short-stacked, he got it in with {Q-Spades}{9-Spades} and ran straight into the {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} of Chun Law. On a board of {J-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} there was a glimpse of hope on the turn but ultimately the aces held up.

Steward's Aces Not Cracked

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

At the start of the last level of the night, David Kahan open-shoved from the small blind into the big blind of Kevin Steward and he quickly called with {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}. Kahan only had {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs} but found a flush draw on the {Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop. The {8-Spades} turn and {10-Hearts} river blan ked and Steward doubled.

Banerji Loses a Flip

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Shantanu Banerji
Shantanu Banerji

Out of the small blind, Shantanu Banerji open-shoved for around 230,000 with the {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Paul Skipper in the big blind called with {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}. The {Q-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} flop took away some outs for Banerji, and the {3-Diamonds} turn and {9-Spades} river completed the board. Skipper's flush took down the pot and sent Banerji to the rail.

Mihaita Croitoru
Mihaita Croitoru

The entire action is unknown, but Mihaita Croitoru just shipped over his stack of half a million preflop to Muhamet Perati. The latter had found the perfect timing for {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}, as Day 1a chip leader Croitoru only had {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. The board came {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and that was it for the PokerStars qualifier from Romania.

Joshua Green Bad Beated

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Adam Harsanyi opened the action and Joshua Green shoved for close to 400,000. Harsanyi called to put Greens tournament life on the line in the final level.

Harsanyi had {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} and Green was in good shape for a double with {a-Spades}{k-Spades}.

The board ran out {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts}.

The final card delivered the heart flush to bust Green who shook hands with the table before he left.

On another table just after Ricardo Cuerda Cuartero was eliminated too.

Extra Level Added for Day 2

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Due to the sensational turnout of the event, and the big number of remaining players, tournament staff has run some numbers and a very late finish tomorrow would be likely. As a result, it was decided to play one additional level tonight and then come back tomorrow at 12 p.m. local time.

There will be a 15-minute level at the end of this level.
