"stud911911" Busts; Hand-for-Hand Play Begins

"PowerRanges"
"PowerRanges"

In Level 18 with blinds of 2,500/5,000 and an ante of 625, "PowerRanges" opened to 10,000 in the hijack and "stud911911" re-jammed for 75,277 in the cutoff. Action folded back to "PowerRanges" and a call was made to send the two off to the races.

"stud911911": {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}
"PowerRanges": {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

An ace on the flop was enough to spell doom for "stud911911", as no seven followed on the runout {a-Spades}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} to result in their elimination from the tournament in 21st place.

With 20 players remaining, just one more elimination is needed for the tournament to make it into the money. Hand-for-hand play is now in effect across the four remaining tables until that feat is accomplished.

Ploof Wins a Big Coin Flip

Matthew Ploof
Matthew Ploof

In Level 18 with blinds of 2,500/5,000 and an ante of 625, "YouPaid2SeeNuts" opened to 15,000 in the hijack and Matthew "ProfitablePloof" Ploof re-jammed on the button for 103,225. Action folded back to "YouPaid2SeeNuts" and they called for almost all of their chips.

Matthew "ProfitablePloof" Ploof: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
"YouPaid2SeeNuts": {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Ploof was out in front by a slight margin and stayed there through the runout {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts} to score the double, bringing him over 200,000 in the process. Meanwhile, "YouPaid2SeeNuts" was down to their last couple of big blinds, but found a double to find a small piece of life.

Moments later, "irishfan423" ran queens into the kings of "vikmod" to bust, and "FarmingYou" was also knocked out on an adjacent table. Twenty-one now remain, leaving the tournament just two away from the reaching the money.

"irishfan423" Finds a Double

"irishfan423"
"irishfan423"

In Level 17 with blinds of 2,000/4,000 and an ante of 500, action folded to "gets2u1975" on the button and they opened to 8,000. "irishfan423" defended their big blind and the flop came {k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. "irishfan423" led out for 8,000 and "gets2u1975" called.

The turn came {4-Clubs} and "irishfan423" jammed for 35,825, nearly a pot-sized bet. "gets2u1975" called once more.

"irishfan423" {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
"gets2u1975": {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

"irishfan423" found a set of fours on the turn before getting all of their chips in, but still had nine flush outs to fade to stay alive. The river {j-Hearts} fell safely and they scored the double.

Less fortunate were "theduke8605" and "aqbdogaqbdog", who both have fallen since the break, and 23 now remain.

Businessman Matthew "Luna_Nova21" Davis Battling in MICOOP

Matthew Davis
Matthew Davis

Matthew "Luna_Nova21" Davis is a 31-year-old former director of mortgage banking for Quicken Loans and now an owner of his own Allstate Insurance Agency. Davis, who is single with no kids, resides in Washington, Michigan not far from Detroit.

"I started playing poker when I was 15 with friends from school," he said when asked how he learned the game. "There was about four of us who would play $5 sit n gos. I play mostly Texas hold ‘em, but I mix in PLO, 7-Card Stud, and five-card PLO from time to time. I play mainly tournaments but I do want to start playing more cash. I do really well in cash games but I love to hunt for titles."

He continued: "I used to play online before Black Friday. I’ve been playing on another site for the last few years but now play on PokerStars. I’ve mostly played tournaments. I typically will play the mid to higher-stakes games online."

In the live realm, Davis has more than $160K in lifetime earnings according to The Hendon Mob. That includes a career-high $98,120 for finishing 76th out of an 8,569-player field in the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event. He also finished 24th in the 2015 WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Hammond $1,675 Main Event for $13,437, 28th in the same tournament in 2019 for $8,065, and 21st in the 2014 Heartland Poker Tour Mount Pleasant $1,650 Main Event for $4,933.

Only time will tell if Davis' live success will translate to the online felt here in the 2021 MICOOP.
