"9NINENINE" Wins MICOOP Event #38 ($250 NLHE Super Tuesday) for $11,525

Event #38 Results

"9NINENINE" has just topped a field of 257 in dramatic fashion to earn the title of champion for the 2021 PokerStars Michigan Championship of Online Poker (MICOOP) Event #38: $250 NLHE [Super Tuesday SE], $50K Gtd.

A final table that never saw a moment to breathe came to an end after "9NINENINE" knocked out Henry "xlzou1990" Zou in third place with pocket kings to ace-king and proceeded to follow that up by eliminating "Batmanstein" heads up shortly thereafter with pocket aces to pocket queens.

In total, it only took around half an hour to go from nine to one after an unquantifiable amount of doubles occurred among short stacks across the final two tables, leaving average stacks short once the final table was reached.

Final Table Recap

"Batmanstein" entered the final table as the short stack, but quickly found two doubles. The first was through "BigRon324", who fell in ninth to none other than "Batmanstein" just a few hands after earning those doubles. "Batmanstein" then sent "V1ctor0" out in eighth with ace-jack to king-jack.

"Batmanstein" also knocked out sixth-place finisher "tsaroffish4", but not before Zou sent "UncleBuppy" out in seventh when his ace-four held versus jack-ten suited all-in preflop.

With five remaining, "9NINENINE" had largely flown under the radar with a big stack but their king-eight flopped trips versus the ace-seven of "PrinceTurtle" to eliminate them in fifth. Zou then notched another elimination, knocking out "PimpMyBalance" in fourth place. In total, these six eliminations all happened within around 15 minutes' time.

Nearly a full level then went by before sparks flew again, as was highlighted before. Zou found himself with ace-king in the big blind and three-bet a small-blind open from "9NINENINE", who four-bet shoved on him with two kings. A king on the flop all but sealed the deal, and Zou found himself drawing dead by the turn.

"9NINENINE" then took a commanding chip lead into heads-up play before doubling "Batmanstein" after calling a shove with king-eight suited. "Batmanstein" held ace-four and saw it hold, but two hands later shoved pocket queens into pocket aces and was unable to further improve, resulting in victory for "9NINENINE".

PokerNews coverage of the inaugural 2021 MICOOP will continue on Wednesday, March 4 at 8 p.m. ET for Event #41: $250 PLO [6-Max High Roller], $20K Gtd. Until then, be safe and be good.

"Batmanstein" Eliminated in 2nd Place ($8,598)

"Batmanstein"

In Level 33 with blinds of 40,000/80,000 and an ante of 10,000, "Batmanstein" open-jammed on the button once more for 1,786,012 just two hands after their previous double, and "9NINENINE" immediately called.

"Batmanstein": {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
"9NINENINE": {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

"Batmanstein" saw the bad news, with their queens running into aces. A runout of {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} did nothing to change their situation, and they were eliminated in second place as a result.

As a result, "9NINENINE" has won MICOOP Event #38 for $11,525. A recap of the event will be posted shortly.

In Level 32 with blinds of 35,000/70,000 and an ante of 8,750, nearly a full level of play went by without a showdown until "9NINENINE" raised to 140,000 in the small blind and was three-bet to 560,000 by Henry "xlzou1990" Zou in the big blind. "9NINENINE" came over the top, four-betting to put Zou to a decision for his total stack of 1,879,158. Zou called.

Henry "xlzou1990" Zou: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
"9NINENINE": {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Zou found himself on the receiving end of a cooler, watching the flop {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} leave him drawing extremely thin. The turn {2-Clubs} sealed the deal, leaving him drawing dead as the river {q-Spades} completed the runout to bring about his third-place finish, good for $6,415.

In Level 31 with blinds of 30,000/60,000 and an ante of 7,500, "PimpMyBalance" was on the button and open-shoved for 769,966. Henry "xlzou1990" Zou called for roughly two-thirds of his stack in the small blind.

"PimpMyBalance": {k-Spades}{9-Spades}
Henry "xlzou1990" Zou: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Zou flopped two pair on {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}{q-Hearts} and left "PimpMyBalance" in need of hitting a ten to make Broadway. It came on the turn {10-Clubs}, but the river {j-Diamonds} gave Zou a full house to reclaim the best hand and eliminate "PimpMyBalance" in fourth place.

"PrinceTurtle"

In Level 31 with blinds of 30,000/60,000 and an ante of 7,500, action folded to "9NINENINE" on the button and they open-jammed for under 10 effective big blinds. "PrinceTurtle" called off their remaining 312,513 in the small blind and found themselves needing to hold.

"PrinceTurtle": {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
"9NINENINE": {k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

Instead, the flop {8-Spades}{2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} left them in need of running aces to stay alive. The turn {a-Diamonds} made that possible, but the river {q-Diamonds} smashed all hopes and sent them out in fifth, marking the third elimination in five hands en route to a score of $3,571

"V1ct0r0" Eliminated in 8th Place ($1,483)

"V1ct0r0"
"V1ct0r0"

In Level 30 with blinds of 25,000/50,000 and an ante of 6,000, action folded to "Batmanstein" in the small blind just three hands after they eliminated "BigRon324" in ninth place. They open-jammed for the effective stack of 274,980 that "V1ct0r0" had in the big blind, and a call was made to put "V1ct0r0" at risk for their tournament life.

"V1ct0r0": {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
"Batmanstein": {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}

"V1ct0r0" was a severe underdog and the runout {8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} did nothing to change that, resulting in them taking eighth place in the tournament for a payday of $1,483.

"BigRon324": {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
"Batmanstein": {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

"BigRon324" saw two of their outs disappear on the flop {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and no further help came as the turn {10-Hearts} and river {a-Hearts} completed the runout to bring about their elimination in ninth place.

"9NINENINE" Knocks Out Two, Zou Gets One; Hand-for-Hand Play Begins Once More

"8goldchains"
"8goldchains"

In Level 29 with blinds of 20,000/40,000 and an ante of 5,000, "9NINENINE" opened to 80,000 under the gun and action folded around to "8goldchains" in the big blind, who three-bet shoved for 238,394. "9NINENINE" called.

"8goldchains": {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
"9NINENINE": {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The flop {2-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} gave "9NINENINE" top two pair and left "8goldchains" with just a gutshot to Broadway. The turn {2-Hearts} gave them a possibility at a better two pair should Barry Greenstein pay them a visit, but instead {5-Spades} completed the runout and "8goldchains" was eliminated from the tournament in 13th place.

In the blink of an eye thereafter, "megatron06869" lost with {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} versus Henry "xlzou1990" Zou's {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and then "9NINENINE" knocked out "ParryGreen$tein" after their {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades} held vs {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}, both in all-in preflop situations.

The trio of bust-outs has reduced the field from 13 to 10, and hand-for-hand play is now in effect as the final table bubble has been reached.
